Sunset 2025 Builds

@Hawaii Sloper and I upgraded from my DIY power setup from the previous years.
Picked up a DJI Power 1000 (1024wh) and a foldable 200w solar panel

Its a little different than other batteries of that style. Had to buy some adapters for things i wanted it to do, like xt60, car accessory and solar input. But it was on sale for like $400 so pretty awesome.
Its kind of crazy, it can output up to 2.6kw. Its actually the fastest way to recharge dji drone batteries i guess. It has an alternator charger you can get that will do 1.3kw back in. So full charge in 40minutes.
and you can hook up to 6 solar panels into it at a time for 800w input total.

Based off my testing it should power the iron for 5.5 hrs without any power back in from solar.
Assuming we have clear skies somewhere near our tent that should keep up with the iron usage.
@Red already volunteered generator usage too, i think it will do 50% charge in an hour.

mainly though im looking forward to not almost throwing out my back everytime i have to move that stupid car battery.

Thats awesome Nate! I got a little Jackery battery and solar panel setup 50% off and Im excited to test it out. Mostly just for charging phones, running lights and fans but gonna run my charger off it for batteries too. Its not nearly as beefy as yours but should do the trick 👍

The 100w solar panel i usually bring has been overkill actually. It keeps up with our battery charging, playing movies every night, running lights at night, charging our phones, soldering, etc. Within an hour the next morning its usually topped up again. But it was a huge mess of things screwed into plywood with wires everywhere and no real idea of how much we were using or had left except.

The iron takes about 180w at the first stick on phase. Was a little worried about that so upgrade the solar.

I have a little battery setup. I like it as it is small and light, but only outputs about 500 watts, so not all that handy. But great for feeding the hobby chargers.

You should. This is event is just pure fun. No other agendas allowed. There are some decent restaurants and lodging in the area too. Bring the family, and make it into a family trip..? Lots of touristy things to do in the greater area. Or rough it and camp with us, maximum fun!
