Tell the boy to put on some shoes and mow the lawn!!Home stretch. One more ready (Lightning Bug - just in case) Last one on the bench - never flown MPX Flamingo 2001
I only fight winning battles!Tell the boy to put on some shoes and mow the lawn!!
No really tell him I said that.
Looks good!
Awesome, I need a new Seagull. Mine got warped.Might as well post this here. We have been working on an electric trainer and Rafael wanted to try out a low priced nylon filament as we were breaking our landing gear mount too easily. We ended up with a new design for the landing gear, but this nylon is interesting stuff.
Here is one of the Plane Print Seagulls printed in the Nylon for one of our local pilots to test:
Lets step on it..

Many of you have seen the PLA printed Seagulls and should have an idea of how fragile they are. Let's just say this stuff is proper strong. Pretty amazing for 3D printed plastic.
It does not like single layer printing as it does tend to warp, and is not stiff at all with a single layer. But as you can see the stock internals of the Seagull are enough to make this wing pretty impressive. Pretty sure no carbon spar is needed either. Maybe just some pins to help with the glue joints.
I'd like to see a design designed to work with a nylon filament. I think it could make 3D printed SLOPE planes or even combat planes rather practical.
It is not light, so forget about making light planes with it. But a nylon D-box with foamed PLA behind would be a good option. Bottom of the fuselage.. etc.
I totally agree! We plan to try some designs next. I can't get any of the 3D designers interested. They already have enough on their plates and do not want to modify their designs. I don't blame them..a heavy little nylon plank would be cool
How about a 3D printed starsqueak!I totally agree! We plan to try some designs next. I can't get any of the 3D designers interested. They already have enough on their plates and do not want to modify their designs. I don't blame them..
We will try to make something small and HEAVY for los Banos fun.
I have not entered the world of 3D printing yet. Nate disabused my thoughts of making a simple version of it. Apparently requires a degree in physics, mechanical engineering, and computer engineering ! HahaThat was my snide way of telling him to get to work on the CAD files.
I did buy a set of the Mizmo files. Looks like it should take well to Nylon.
nice !Yep - And I'm curios to check out this new version of 3D files from GEODE on RC Groups.
He has some modifiers you can tweak to make changes to meet your needs. Have not had the chance to check this out yet, could be pretty handy.![]()
MIZMO - A Blended Wing Body (BWB) Flying Wing
Mizmo is intended for experienced builders/pilots with extensive knowledge in building slope sailplanes. Although not required, builder is recommended to have experience with Cura slicer and modifier. This design is intended for Cura. It's possible to port this design to other slicers but not...cults3d.com
