Los Banos build thread for everyone

Red

Very Strong User
As usual, I’m trying to cram a few builds in before the event in these last couple weeks. This thread is for anyone who is thrashing stuff together to fly. Bringing something for sale? Post it here too!

1. First up is a 48” Dan Wing V2 for my son Ryan. He has been flying my 60” Bee for combat, but it’s time he had his own.

2. Is a scratch built 100” Ridge Runner built by Dave Hover for my friend Len Ledson in 1973. This all wood version is stretched from the original 72” and intended for the RCM Trophy Races which were the predecessor of the ISR races at Davenport. This one has never been flown. It has vintage Kraft servos and nyrod elevator linkage. It’s destined for modern radio gear and a nice carbon pushrod and external horn.

3. Is a Scythe from Mark Triebes at ACME Flying Machines. This is a F5D style pylon racer but in 2M span. In the future it will get a 7Kw+ set up, but for now the slope fuse is going on. It has all Tomas Liu hardware installed, waiting for some CHA servos. Should be quick to assemble.

4. Is a Kyosho A-6 intruder EDF converted for slope. This is a foamy and one night assembly.

5. Last one is the prototype of Doc Hammonds new Redshift Spada. This is a 3M (I think) all arounder that should be quite quick. I’m most excited about this one! It’s supposedly on the way, but again should be a quick build.

This is ambitious, but I think I’ll make it. I’ll also be bringing some of the usual suspects, what are you bringing?

5: Spada - 3M - Gofast prototype IS on its way and hopefully will get there in time, Red. Maybe middle of next week.

This is the very first 001 production model rushed out of the new mould set.

Probably need Tomas Liu stuff or similar for that too.

Midnight oil burned, now I can go back to just being jealous...

I have the Liu stuff and everything else ready and waiting.

Does anyone know of any of the local regulars to Banos and how to contact them? There is/was an active tow plane group. Maybe someone from the SBSS would know. I think they sponsored the annual scale fly event in years past and they had tow planes in attendance.

A few highstarts and bungee launchers could also be useful.

@SailHigh any ideas on a short notice for some 'tugs"?

@agarchitect You could always ask local farmers to help:

I mentioned earlier that I have a towplane ready , a Carl Goldberg Eagle II model airplane, 70" wingspan , with a power 50 electric motor. I have a tow release on the tow side and the towline.
What plane are you thinking about ?
We may try to test locally, at Lime Ridge first , if you wish.

Jure, how big of a sailplane, weight and span wise, can you tow?
