Sweet! Waiting for you all to get building. 🤗

As a heads up, if you are planning to build this as an electric, we will be outlining a few changes. Basically moving the elevator servo to a more rearward location so we have plenty of room for the ESC, Battery and motor all under the canopy, adjusting the battery location for CG. We will outline that a bit later.

I asked Jarron for a sporty power setup.. I'm not sure what he thinks "sporty" is...LOL

I don't want to clog up the build thread, but just wanted to say that I'm really impressed with the kit. You guys did a really nice job. Even just including the sanding blocks was such a nice touch. I haven't built anything like this in over 35 years... Yeah, I guess I'm kinda old, but hopefully it will turn out okay. I was able to procure an old school Top-Flight iron with the original box on ebay, so that should be interesting to try that out again. I think I used to be fairly decent at applying Monokote, but man, that was a LONG time ago.

Thanks for all the effort put into assembling that kit. Looks like you put a ton of work into it. Anyone on the fence about buying one, I think it's truly a great value... Go for it.

I agree. Really nice job by Aloft. My thanks to Wayne and the crew!! Nice job on the build thread too. The build thread explains it all in detail. Just waiting for the wing part.

It really means a lot to hear the good reports. As you know we have been chipping away at the design and manufacturing side of kitting and each project we tackle is more complex and more refined. I will be the first to admit that my CAD skills are weak, so this all takes me a bit longer. All of the guys at Aloft contribute to the design, hardly an afternoon goes past without us discussing some part of some project. We are a small shop, and we all wear a lot of hats here and I think we all love the challenges of design.

A little side note. During the early part of the design I worked with @Jarron for a motor to design around. We were going to have about 2mm clearance on the sides of the motor. Perfect. Well, we added the thin plywood in the nose area, that ate up that clearance. Yikes! Did not catch this until the kits had shipped. No worries a slightly smaller motor will actually fit better and work better since the AUW was lower than originally expected. Woohoo. (We could also alter the plywood design to give back the motor clearance.)

I just wish I had got the kit out a little sooner to give folks more time to build, but in the end, the extra time spent makes the model very easy to build.

Man, I honestly don't know how much time I spent on the fuse but it was fairly quick. Probably a couple hours but if I were to do it again I'd imagine I could do it in 1/2 the time.

Since Indiana is basically flat, I will build mine with an electric motor. I would think that a relatively small motor would do the job. Do you think that you will have to move the elevator servo back in order to make more room for the battery and if so would this mean a redesign of the 3D printed former/wing part? Anxious to start my build.

Electric - The RRE I am building for the plans will be the first electric. We are going to use a small Emax 1400kv motor and an 850 3S battery. It should give great performance, and not cost or weigh very much. The biggest issue with the electric conversion is easy access to the battery, and making the CG easy to obtain, so a new servo tray for the rear will be developed, and the B2 bulkhead will be modified to remove the existing servo tray. This is a simple change to the airframe. We will be setting this one up with a 45mm spinner and folding 7x4 prop.

Let us get this one built and tested to see if anything else is needed.
 
For the electrics - Yeah, not a bad idea. I'll be dremeling out the servo tray installed in mine. That would be easier to do before it is built.
