The screw in the rear is not really needed, the 4mm coroplast is a snug fit. Works really well. Need to open up the finger holes a little, and probably pull some weight from the 3D print.

I think that’s a bit slicker design!

One of the other benefits of the fin box is that you can try different sizes of fin to suit your preference. I wanted fins about 25% larger for my 48” starfire at sunset last year and just went back to camp and cut a couple out and it changed the whole feel of the plane for me.

Totally agree. Already drew up a second fin style that is not as curvy.

The new fin box is about half the weight of the first and has all the strength where needed. Woohoo!

Jarron will be building up the first example after the holidays and taking photos for the build manual. Prototypes have already flown, so just a matter of picking the tail size for the kit.

I picked one of these up last week. It was a short two night build. The ready to fly weight is 15.6 oz with 5mil New Stuff. I did the maiden flight on Wednesday and loved it. It’s a fun low stress plane that’s a lot of fun to fly.
