The Arrow - A Sneak Peek at our new wing project.

Interesting, but not correct.

I'm not a big fan of winglets for most planes, even my combat wings, but in the case of the arrow (or whatever we end up calling this model) it can be very beneficial. We will be looking into this during the prototype testing.

Yes, true flaps, functions like a normal flapped model.

Fuselage pod is still a question mark. Prototype moving forward.iMO
The POD fuselage actually helps the isobars to be bunched in the mid-wing area, which is exactly what you want in a flying wing.

Winglets are not a good idea unless you get over 6M span.

Cheers,

Doc.
Having flaps or anything to help lose some energy on landing will be nice. That the one tough thing with the z1 is to remember to land before it gets too windy. Even up around 12mph it can be tough at places like sunset to lose enough speed to safely land.
How do I say “flaps are overkill” in a nice way.
More servos/wiring!!/ weight/time, …granted flaps are very cool, …I opted not to on
my Z-1. Very happy
Keep up the good energy Wayne!
Ps…that sunset landing area is a test we can all relish passing. Flaps don’t insure the process. IMO

LOL - Landing a heavy and clean model at Sunset is challenging. I have a light plane with flaps and enjoy the heck out of playing with it at the landing area at Sunset. I have another similar model with no flaps, and I do not enjoy playing with it in the landing area. LOL

I used to have a D60 that only had about 30 degrees of down flap, and being an older D60 it had small flaps too. What a pain it was to land at Tick Point. Every landing was probably at 50mph. I remember one time the nose got under some weedy vine during a hot landing and it ripped out the entire weed and still had enough energy to shoot off the end of the cliff and continue flying with the weed wrapped around the fuselage. The next pass was better with the added drag from the weed.

Prototype is together!!
