DLG-BOW 110 - The Slope/DLG Wing

DLG-Bow flew great today at Coyote Hills, in about 15 mph of wind.

In the air, DLG-Bow looks and flies like NCFM Halfpipe (what I put in my avatar), only requires less wind. Very aerobatic.

Also like NCFM Halfpipe, it is a bit hard to hold on for launch. I am glad that I have installed the launch peg on the wingtip.

Regarding to the build, the laser-cut parts fit impressively well, especially considering that many of the joints are slanted. Two minor issues:
  • The wings are 1-2 mm shorter than depicted on the plan. While laying out the parts on the plan, align by the trailing edge of the wings and don't force the parts toward the wingtips.
  • The rib notches on the trailing stocks need to be slanted.
This is a great flyer.

Got to fly mine a little at Sunset this year. I had nearly forgotten how well that plane flies. Several folks commented on the good looks and performance. I need to make a fresh one now that we have the lighter balsa and better carbon. The prototype used less than ideal material as it was what we had on hand at the time. (Not uncommon for our prototypes.)

Hello, thank you for the feedback. It seems we had an issue with the printer’s scale, which has already been adjusted. Basically, it was feeding more paper than it should, causing the plans to appear stretched. We've since replaced the printer and fixed the issue. It wasn’t a major problem, but it did take some of our attention and energy for a while until we were able to resolve it.
