Forza 2.5

Question for those flying the Forza, what tape do you use for the wings and tails? Anything special or just normal electrical tape or something? Assuming top and bottom of both wings and tails? This will be my first glider that doesnt have a mechanical connection for the wings/tails. Thanks!
Electrical tape Yota - it has just the right amount of give before it breaks, and it doesn't leave a residue - plus you can normally get close to your wing colour.

electrical tape will do fine. I didn't use tape for the elevator as I had all moving stabs too. But electrical tape will also do this job on the tail to bridge the rudder to stab gap. the brighter the tape on the wing the better, maybe look here for special advice https://alofthobbies.com/products/wing-tape-for-moldies?_pos=7&_sid=994beb157&_ss=r
Forza does not have all-moving stabs. I don't use them. A slight bend in the elevator wire will keep them in place.

Yep, white electrical tape on the wing join - top surface only. I didn’t think the tail halves needed taping on as they have a fair bit of resistance to pulling off already.

I also taped the nose cone on, as my flying buddy told me that he’d seen someone launch and the cone came off in his hand, leaving the model behind…. A bit of red electrical tape did the trick. Gonna install one of those magnetic on/off switches so that i dont have to keep taking the nose off.

That's good to hear, Martin. When you get the CG back a bit and spend a bit more time flying, you can really wring her out. As an all-rounder, I designed the Forza to be easy to fly, fast, agile, and without bad landing behaviour.

Cheers and happy flying with your new toy,

Doc.
Thanks Doc, she certainly feels like a winner to me:) i felt pretty confident straight away after launching.

With the 96mm cg I just had to push a bit on the elevator stick to keep her in the dive. I’m not the greatest aerobatic flier, but I like to fly around fast with the odd loop and roll thrown in.

I wasn’t sure about flapperons setting, so opted to only have them switched in at 10% mix when in thermal mode.

Cheers, Martin

As the CG goes back, Martin, the native speed will go up, and so will the roll rate, as the model will not be fighting itself.

Because of the wing planform design, the CG can be quite variable according to the flyer's preferences. The ailerons do not extend right to the wingtips, so there are normally no uninvited wing drops on landing.

But move the CG back bit by bit. I have mine at about 105mm

Cheers,

Doc.

Lots of people use Blenderm. I use it and it seems to work just fine

It's probably a bit late for this build, but the latest edition of Aufwind Magazine—the English version—has a very detailed article by Markus Thewes on assembling the G-Forza. Markus describes the build with typical German thoroughness - nothing is left out.

The next issue will feature the E-Forza build, plus both models' test flights.

If you like gliders, Aufwind is the place to be. Oh, and by the way, did I mention that I have a "Gliding and Design" column in the magazine?:ROFLMAO:

Take a look, each issue is usually over 100 pages and well worth the subscription.

Cheers,

Doc.

You still planning on coming to sunset doc ?
I'll be honest, Nate. I was planning to go, but while the European market is bonkers, the USA market for my models has crashed.

Let me take this chance to explain. I can kill two birds with one stone since many people will be looking at the Sunset posts:

Aeroic/Aloft:
You and no doubt others will be wondering what's been going on. You have probably seen my announcements that Aloft will no longer represent Aeroic, but rest assured, there is no fight or dispute here—it's just that we are going in different directions.

Aloft stock:
To advise everyone, even though Wayne has been selling his Aeroic stock at massive discounts, there is nothing wrong with the planes he has. The dumping is to get the 'end of the line' models off his hands and, no doubt, make some money, which we all need. So, if you or anybody else wants one of my models, grab it while you can! You will never see these prices again.

Sunset bash:
To return to the topic, much as I'd love to visit Sunset, the 10,000-mile flight is not worth it. I'm sure Red and Ryan will be there with my planes, so anyone considering buying one can at least try.

The Future:
Right now, if anybody wants an Aeroic model, they have to get it from Europe, which a surprising number of people in the US have done recently, despite the stupid shipping charges. But there might be an alternative: If two or three (or more) people buy planes together, the shipping cost will be significantly lower. In that event, I'm sure Red can handle the sales, and he would probably be very open to 'club' deals and pricing flexibility.

Having said all that, I wish you guys a fun time at Sunset, and lets hope the weather gods cooperate!

Cheers all, and sorry for any confusion that may have arisen.

Doc.

Thanks for the info Doc. Sorry we wont get to meet this time. I look forward to getting my Forza in the air and hopefully get an E-fuse for it. Thanks for the help with the build too 👍

Sorry to hear that, Doc. I was looking forward to meeting you but I completely understand. It’s a LONG flight away.

Here are a couple of Forzas in Europe. Left is Markus Thewes, and right is Michael Genshiem.

Both guys took advantage of my free fuselage offer, so although Markus is holding a G-Forza and Michael and E-model, both have the other versions.

Six more are under construction in Europe, and I just sent another ten over.:D

Word travels fast.

I’m going to fit this motor with 14 x 9 prop, 80A ESC and 4S 1800 pack, giving around 1kw of power.

Should be enough power to just about get off the ground :oops::oops:

Martin

P.s. hopefully it will balance OK…

Definitely post up here how the build/balancing goes. Im hoping to get an E-Forza fuse in the states for mine and will be building a parts list in hopes that it might happen sooner rather than later. Seems like a good combo as I like speed... haha

Will do, first job will be the do a test balance to see if it’s a viable option. There’s plenty of space for motor battery etc.

I’ve been debating whether to just fit a small ‘get me out of trouble’ motor, but can’t really see the point of that 😴

If you also have a glider fuse, I'd vote for the "get me into trouble" motor option.
