Toccata VS Forza VS Corsa

Hey everybody,

Ive got some funds burning a hole in my pocket and while Im waiting for a used glider to come up for sale, I am day dreaming about getting a brand new glider. I got to fly a Toccata at the Sunset Camp N Fly this year which was awesome but I am curious how it compares to the Forza and Corsa? I have applied to join the Slot and want to have a glider between 2-3 meters that can be ballasted and handle medium to heavy days at there as well as some light DS'ing.

Out of the three listed, what are your thoughts and the plus's/minus's of each? Storage/transportation arent issues so the main reason for the size restriction of 2-3 meters is I want something that is quick and agile still.

Appreciate any insight!

I haven't flown a Forza or Toccata but I own a Corsa and love it. It's super easy to fly and land. I have the "light layup" and send it to the backside every chance I get! I'm sure it'd be awesome at the Slot.

Ive posted a bunch of videos of the Corsa

My advice - what do you mean I'm biased?...o_O:p

If you want light winds and thermalling ability as well as pretty good aerobatics - get the Corsa.
If you want close in sloping with great aerobatics and great allround performance get the Forza.
If you want to surpise yourself with how well you can fly - get a Toccata - its the hot rod of 2M sloping.
If you want something with an extra mile over all of them, get a Spada.
If you want to do all of the above, only higher and faster than everyone else - get an Alpenbrise.

Note: None of these comments have come from me.

Note on the Spada: Not flown much in the USA axcept for Phil D and Red, but now extensively flown in Europe, the Spada does everything the other three smaller models do only better and faster.

My two-penny worth.

News: Just setting up an Aeroic Racing Team competition schedule in Europe for 2025 with the Spada.

Cheers,

Doc.

Thanks Doc! Great breakdown and I will go daydream about the Spada now as well... 🙃
You can fly the Toccata, Forza, Spada and AB all at Los Banos next month if you can wait that long. Then you can truly get a feel for them all back to back.

And yes I'm biased lol. Small slope, Toccata. No space issues, AB. In between you pick. If you are open to a 3M, then Spada is the one.

Dayum - I'm so P$%%%£d off that I cant get to that this year...bugger.

Oh well next time.

Thanks Red! I will definitely take you up on that offer. Ill be on the look out for something already built but if nothing comes up for sale and I can gather a few more $, I may look at picking up one of these 😁

For me it is the Forza.

Quick reference point on spans:
Toccata - 2 meter
Forza - 2.5 meter
Corsa - 2.75 meter

As a simple rule of thumb, with all other things being the same, the plane with the bigger span will be faster and carry energy better. With this said, not all things are the same on these 3 models, but I'd say the speed ranking very much follows the formula. On the converse, all things being the same, the shortest wingspan will be more "sporty" feeling. On this point, I think the Forza may break this rule as it really is a well performing plane, it may beat out the smaller Toccata in this one.

I love the proportions of the Forza, I like that the plane has a decent amount of space in the nose for radio gear. And I like the slip off nose cone. But best of all I LOVE how this plane flies. It can turn a good lick of speed and carries the energy well, but it also loves to be thrown around the sky. A very good balance of performance.

The Corsa is biased more for pure speed, and the tiny little fuselage is just big enough to fit everything, but not much to spare. I suggest you go with bright easy to see colors as the fuselage becomes a dot at certain angles. (I had a grey one and flying it in hazy weather was not ideal.) But this plane is a good ripper. A good sporty plane.

The Toccatta - I think I flew the same plane you flew, but I didn't get many laps before scoring a kill when I collided with a Jester. :( Prior to that it was feeling good, but didn't get to fly it enough to draw a full picture of it performance. Watching Red fly it, it seemed to handle pretty darn well.

I have flown about all of Hammond's designs over the years and I think the Forza has a bit of magic in the mix, I really like the plane.

If I had a case...I'd rest it.
