With all of this scary stuff going on in the world today, I thought it would be really nice to see what you all are building, rebuilding or whatever. As long as it is not another story about TP I will be happy.

To make it a little more fun, we'll send our favorite project or story a free gift or two. :)

Perhaps you had some fun combat:

Perhaps you built some furniture with your wife:

Share some pics or just a fun story. I think we can all use a bit of an escape!

Nothing to do with modelling but anyway this is a glass case I recently made for a friend of Julia's who collects crystal.

They are two crystal scimitars, and the case is from Bloodwood - which is a bit of SOB to work with, but comes out OK.

All of the wood was cut and milled from one 3 foot by 1 foot square baulk that Julia bought about 2 years ago.

Cheers,

Doc.

Even though lake county is now on shelter in place orders my wife and i are still required to work (medical clinic and air quality) but im still plugging away on my big 4m plank project for sunset.

The free broken fuselage i received via rcgroups is finally taking shape, getting ready for paint. I decided to add a little "virus" to the tail graphics so in future years when i see it on the wall im reminded of whats going on during this time.

Hi there fellow RC enthusiasts

I have a couple of projects on the go including a rebuild of my DLG after I smashed it last week (we won't go into the details) - I am using CF braided tubes for the fuselages - the DLG will be a one-piece fuse in the style of the Snipe2 and has a foam core which I will melt out afterward - the Glider fuse has a 1mm 3D printed fuse with the CF braid over the top which will stay as part of the structure.

I am in New Zealand and today our borders are closed and our company is doing a trial 'working from home day' - these are crazy times!

I know you are only using Jane to show how tidy your workshop is not Wayne...

Anyway what is that wooden structure?

Looking good!

You knew I couldn’t let it go without a comment. While we can’t blame Trump for the virus. We can critique his leadership or lack there of leading to this economic apocalypse, which will become known as the “Trumpocalypse". He has claimed that it will go away when things get warmer. There is no scientific evidence for this claim. Heck, the hot gulf states are being hit hard. (Let me tell you, the last time I was in mid east it was hot as hell)! In the last briefing I heard, he couldn’t even name the virus properly calling it the "Chinese Virus", he doesn’t know it is identified as Coronavirus 19, AKA Covid-19. This proper nomenclature calls out the virus shape and year. "Chinese virus” tells us nothing, heck it isn’t even accurate as I’m not aware of any virus carrying a Chinese passport!

As there has been a bit of local interest in glow engines from the golden era of glow, I’ve been in the attic trying to uncover what I might have, that would be of interest. I have found some of my Italian Stallions, and other dated performance engines.

I now have to figure out how to discuss the features that make many of these engine interesting.

I think I’ll post a discussion thread under the gas/fuel section of the forum.

All the best,
Konrad

My son found my old Bob Selman Design pea nut scale sterling mambo. We fixed it and test flew it tonight before the rain started up again. Over several attempts to fly in front of the house I crashed into the tree, my car, my wife’s car, and my neighbors trash can. I call it a success since it got me and the kids out side for a bit. I’m also working on my Pirat kit too. Hope to have that ready for a test flight when ever we can meet in groups of more than 10.

Hank

Cute! But why all the crashing?
Uh well the model only weighs 27 grams so any breeze pushes it around. Plus the usual trim issues on a test flight. The model was flown on my old Tx so I had to bind it to this one. I think I’ll try to go by the local park on my way to work and try again.

Doc, nice model. That’s some real craftsman ship there. Can’t wait to see the finished model.

That’s why I called it white gold!;)

As to the Aluminum Brass Chrome and steel, much of it is well loved (read worn out). Some of it has been abused (read crashed or engineering failures). But yes there are a lot of NIB or low time examples there.

Cosmic Wind Kinda- 60" control line aerobatic.

Doc.
Don’t we call the mid wing Goodyear racers (Formula one) Polecat, Stinger, Shoestring etc.? And bottom winged Goodyear racers; Estrellita, Cosmic Wind, Rivets, Proud Bird, etc.? I'm so confused?

Love pressure cowls! We don’t often see them near as much in RC as we do in CL. I wonder why. All my racers where the class allows cowls have pressure cowls as part of the cooling system. Yes, even my electric racers. Do you have a large enough exit area for the expanded air?

Wow, you must carry a lot of clout! The press rarely mentions the Did Not Start (DNS) efforts. The best any one can call me is being part of; “Team Corolla Virus: We're out there too, but not that much of a threat.” ?

All the best,
Konrad

For those that might not know what a pressure cowl is. I have a more detailed write up on HIP as it pertains to the power systems used in the 21st century.

All the best,
