CCM 2m Toy 2019 Version

thought it might be fun to start on the CCM and see what it takes to do this as I am finishing up the VP Models Cubic 3.4. I think this one is stupidly turn key and will not take much work.

in Jan 2020 this thing cost 900 bucks and even came with some wing weights, 2 wing spars and carrying bags. I think the 2021 and newer ones is 1-1.1 k but has built in IDS

So I had servos and I kind of messed up and have a servo mounting problem. Originally I ordered KST X08+ to go in the cubic fuse but they are too big being the plus version. So i figured i would use the KST X08+ in the CCM and ordered non + variants for the cubic but I cant find jack squat for a non H servo + frame, I cant even find an IDS tray to chop down. Its like the USA is out of stock or no one ever needed a non H servo tray or frame for a wing

I dont think this will work as even chopping it up will be too tall for the servo bay. https://alofthobbies.com/collection...opy-of-ids-typ-kst-a12-lager-external-bearing
I am not too keen on internet surfing all over Asia and Europe looking for one and then the ship costs. I am pondering seeing if i can find a chunk of spruce and i guess go old school and screw the servo into the spruce and then epoxy the spruce into the servo bay. I have some basswood but it looks to be a ply wood piece and when i was tinkering with drilling some holes in it, it kind of desinegrated so no way im putting basswood into the wing. I dont really care to buy 2 more servos as my Hobby budget for 2025 build season and 2025 AMA and dues is pretty much capped

This servo tray is pretty much pre built for x08h non plus servos. I did make some clearance notches for servo wires and i dremeled on the bottom to make clearance for the servo wires and possibly sneak a receiver in there

Get me a top view of the photo of the servo tray, and what you want it to do from there. It sounds like you need to shrink the open area down to fit smaller servo's? It's easy enough on my end to just draw up a new template, your printing it out and cutting out of thin ply stock, doing it in a layers if necessary. I could technically commit it to my laser cutter or 3d printer, but for a one off it wouldn't be worth even my time if I was doing the same thing you are doing. Drill in increments, do not try to force screws through too small of a hole to help reduce blow out and nothing wrong with reinforcing the connection with glue, even pva on the screw itself would be fine.

I am at work so i cant do a bunch on my initial post. I might have mis explained. the v tail servo tray is fine. I am trying to recycle some kst x08 plus non H into a wing servo bay

Originally i had the x08 plus for my cubic build but in that plane i ended up ordering non plus versions to use in that one. So im trying to find a way to use the x08 plus non h for either the flap or aileron bay. after work i will re work the original post

Sounds like you need a mount 3d printed. I just made some for a glider I am working on and I wanted to use standard X08 servos but lay them down in the wing pockets. I 3d printed some mounts to do this and keep the servos removable. I can post pics this evening when I get home. The mount gets epoxied into the wing and has a cover with screws that holds the servo into the mount.

i forgot that back in late november ish when i was getting stuff for the x20rs i got that i had picked up two xact coreless hv5101 they will have 5.8 kg at 7 volt where the x08+ will be 4.8 kg at 7.4 kg
i am targeting 7.2 lipo for the rx pack so i guess they should be fine. in my brain if you read my cubic thread it might make sense what is going on in my head

option 1. hv5101 and a set of frames chopped out of an ids set at 20 bucks for the ids set (AND NOT MATCHING THE OTHER SERVOS IN THE WING FOR SPEED AND TORQUE) if i full span it but lets be real i guess? what are the odds im going to need full span that much to worry about identical matching servos in the flaps and ailerons . also plopping in the 5101 as is it will be a tight fit regardless of the trays they will not be removable if that is a worry. then i have a pair of x08+ for something else down the road?

option 2. i found a set of ids for the 08+ for 30 bucks to chop that up for trays

@Yotaman1985 do you have a file you can share? my glider buddy who has the statue shop you would see in photos of my cubic thread was talking about making a mold out of clay and then scanning it then printing from that.

If the the file costs and you violate some copyright what ever can you share the link to where you bought it and ill buy it to print it?

I like to have servo pairs match left to right. For example both aileron servos the same. I do not care if the flap and aileron servos are different. In fact it is very common to use a small servo for the ailerons and a larger for the flaps.

Hope this helps.

Yea, let me generate a link for it and Ill share it here. I designed it so no cost.

Here is the STL file. I printed mine with 100% infill out of PLA and epoxied it into the wing. Feels plenty strong for the glider Im putting together and you could use long screws for the cover as the holes go all the way through the mount. Let me know if this is what you are looking for. I can change the design around if needed as well. Im happy to also print and mail them to you if needed, just let me know.

Here are some pics of the mount/cover and a servo installed. With screws, its about 10mm thick

@Wayne i do not know yet. I will talk with him tonight or tomorrow and see what he has to say. I try not to keep him occupied with "me me me me A.S.A.P."" every day when he has his family and life as well

well, ive never heard of using Cabosil and or fiberglass shards pretty much until my Cubic build with my friend instructing me on the build. I can definitely say i totally suck at viscosity levels and mix that with my shaky hands....... This will be the only evidence of it as I will keep the canopy on so no one sees it ever ever again outside of my friend and you all. gosh yall have a secret bwahahahahahahahaha

So there is an internal plastic external tube / bowden that is actually hard mounted already in the boom. I slid the carbon internal tubes out the back and I 30 minute / fiberglass shard in the v tail servo plate. yes you can see the spooge flowing down. I sure hope it holds. you can see a pic of where those rear cups will be for the v tail will be and the comb to cover the back. I have the frame at about 25 ish mm from the rear spot of the open canopy up to the curve on frame. The frame has a narrow angle, the CCM is more narrow and towards the front.

EDIT. On a side note im still pondering the servos. I have those x08+ non h pair and I have those frsky hv5101. If i put those frsky in the flaps then i have a pair of x08+ that maybe could go in a dlg at a later time? Can x08+ fit in the fuse of a dlg?

well, i messed up the v tail push rod left side i was following a youtube series someone did on the toy. they were saying to jb weld the coupler to the carbon tube and then some heat shrink. well i didnt know my heat gun would melt the stupid carbon tube into disintegration. So im clueless on what next to do. i am not even sure of the nomenclature of the stuff i need to get. If you look at the vtail pic in post 1 it has a ball at the end. well i assume i need some kind of new tube or push rod system long enough to go down the boom (all im seeing is 1 meter length on the online shop) and what ever that ball cup thingy is called. I tried searching ball cup on the aloft site and its blank. what is the actual name of this cup so i can try and find one?
