Zepsus dual switch connections

It's my first F5J. I have built and fly a Snipe 2 DLG and have around 30 various electric planes, gliders and helicopters. This will be the first time I used two batteries in a plane. I'm not sure what high performance is but my electrics range from 1s to 6s Lipo's.

I'm just finishing it up now. I only have to install the aluminum fire wall from SoaringUSA and mount the engine. I did tape all the equipment in place to check the CG before I set the location of the servos but that's all done. I was really baffled at firs with the install of the wing servos. I had never used the IDS system to connect a servo with a control surface. I was surprised that the kit did not come with instructions. I had to do a lot of googling to put it together. If I build a 2nd F5J it will be much easier.

Ok you aren't new to this kind of stuff. I feared you might be coming straight from a Radian or some such thing. If you can get things to balance then who am I to second guess what Alex recommended.

Doc and I have some detailed builds with the Servorahmen IDS. There may be some information there that might help in the future.

Thanks for that link. It was one of the many I used to figure out IDS. It wasn't all the difficult after reading up on it. It was just nerve wracking to cut into such an expensive wing without being sure I was doing it right. By the fourth servo it was no big deal.

I just flew the Explorer for the first time. The battery combination of 3400 mAh 2s for the receiver and 850 mAh for the motor worked out well. I only use the motor for a 20 second launch then thermal around. I could easily use the 850 for an entire outing. The 3400 will let me soar as long as I want. Having the Zepsus dual power backup was comforting to have even though it’s unlikely I’ll ever need to use the 850 as a backup.

Just a small report to let anyone interested know it all worked out.

Thanks for closing the loop. I like to hear about successes, not just problems.

So what was the AUW?

1300 grams (45.8 oz) with the 3400 mAh and 850 mAh batteries onboard.

I used a generic wiring harness from soaringUSA and there is a fair amount of wire in the plane I could loose if I trimmed it. All in all its probably fine as is for a 3.8 meter bird. It flew very nicely.
