Ok i got the xsr sim and i cannot get it to bind to my x9d. The tx is set to internal rf and d16 then selected bind (bind is flashing) the plugged the xsr-sim in green led on red led flashing. tried letting it sit like that. No joy started sim as a last resort. No joy. Have tried all sorts of variations of plugging xsr-sim in first then turning on tx. no joy
thanks don

I had to create a sim model with just the basics, and then bind it as Rx 0. no problems after that. no model no sim.

I created a sim model, changed to D16 mode all the things the instructions say, still will not bind. Going to try updating dongle firmware since tx firmware was just updated.

You did assign a Rx number on the radio correct? Just checking. If you updated to V2 and no binding than yes it's probably true. Only a limited number of products were on the list of firmware updates for V2 the last time I looked. If so I will just put it in the pile of other things I can't use right now.

I did assign a Rx number.. I bought the radio used to use for simulator. This is the first FrSky I have owned, been out of the hobby a couple decades. The person I bought the Tx from updated to version 2.3.5 just prior to selling it.

I understand completely. I returned to the hobby after 30 years and I am on the same road. When you spoke about upgrading firmware you are talking FrSky not OpenTx firmware? Because if you updated FrSky firmware to V2, The dongle is a Rx as far as this topic goes. The manual mentions being able to upgrade through an S. port but there are zero instructions on how to do this. You might wish to email Aloft support and see what they say. Please post the results. other than the removable cover to get to the bind button I don't see a upgrade switch on the dongle like there is on the S. Airlink S tool.

The instruction sheet shows the ground, the power and the s port. I posted on another forum and was instructed that you connect to that just like you would a Rx. Your suggestion to email aloft is a good one. I will do that before I attempt to update the dongle. Things are sure different then 30 years ago!

Decided to do the update to the dongle while waiting for a reply from Aloft. The lights on the dongle flash now but it still does not bind. Starting to think there is a problem with the Tx. Will see what Aloft has to say.

The firmware update may be specific to the module. I don’t know.

SUCCESS! Wayne suggested that the ACCST might not have been updated when the open tx was. Did that update and now everything is working as designed.

You take the plastic cover off to access the connection point for flashing. Hopefully this attachment worked! You can see in the picture the three holes, one marked ground, one marked 5 volt and one marked s port. You connect to that and flash it as you would a receiver. I thought as you do that you should be able to plug it into a USB port on your computer and just download to it. I found out you cannot.

Thx, I will have to see if I can upgrade it using the Airlink. My X12S doesn't have S port. also not recommended to use pins in module bay.

I just got the XSR-Sim to use with my QX7 and Real Flight 9. Got it bound, but not all switches, "sliders" show up when I run the calibration on RF9. I presume I need to map the controls on the QX7. Is there a reference somewhere to save me the trial & error approach?

I haven't searched for it. I'm having the same issue but have been ok just using the sticks for now. If you find something post it here and I'll do the same.

Hello ( i am normally german so please dont mind my bad english),
i recentley got a QX7 and the xsr sim with it now my problem is that i tried to bind the sim with a different QX7 that i got later just for the sim but when itried binding i couldnt get it to bind i tried everything like getting the new firmware on it the newest for my qx7 but i couldnt get it to bind the only thing i get is the green and red led to light up in the bind mode and i just cant get it to anything else so im asking here and i ve got the usb version of the xsr sim

maybe you have a firmware compatibility issue .
it may be that the two transmitter RF Modules are not using the same revision level.
this is one of the many videos which could help:

Möglicherweise haben Sie ein Problem mit der Firmware-Kompatibilität.
Es kann sein, dass die beiden Sender-HF-Module nicht dieselbe Revisionsstufe verwenden.
Dies ist eines der vielen Videos, die helfen könnten:

Oh jea i see the problem its quite obvious 😅 i may not have two overlapping versions but the strange thing is at first the usb was connecting to my remote even though it is on 2.3.15 and the dongle was well i dont really know
