XJT lite module with x lite ... STILL wont connect to D8 whoop quad

Hello,

I'm very frustrated with the x lite radio and all the moves into proprietary territory that Frsky has made. I've had a lot of trouble getting the xlite to connect to any of my older receivers. I bought the xlite for my kid to use to get him into the hobby, specifically the common micro whoop quads. I had to then go and buy the XJT lite module after finding out the xlite wouldnt work with D8 at all(too late to return). Now I've set up the xlite to use the XJT module in d8 mode, and STILL it wont connect to the quad. It WILL instantly connect to my old X9D radio, no problem.

I'm close to giving up on Frsky entirely at this point, as there are so many cheaper alternatives these days, but I'd hate to have to invest in new gear. Anyone with any pointers on this? Aloft how can I get help on this?

Is the whoop using a FrSky receiver (or is it a whoop sold by FrSky)?
My understanding is some of these whoops use a non-FrSky receiver running reversed engineered firmware, not official FrSky firmware.

Believe me when I say I have a love hate relationship with FrSky. Most of my issues are historically with FrSky’s lack of quality control when it comes to FW releases. Far too often the latest and greatest introduces more issues than it solves. This is why there often are a lot of releases with close to the same publication date.

With that said why do you have an issue with Frsky over these Woops drones? Does FrSky say that their protocols will work with the Woops? Or is it that Woops says the drone will work on ACCST v2.1.x? I suspect the true issue is with Woops not FrSky!

FrSky found a very dangerious flaw in the ACCST (D16) V1.X.XX. FrSky is the only RF OEM that has developed and released a fix for this dangerious flaw. The fix is known as ACCST v.2.1.xx. Unfortunately this solution needs a firmware update to the RX, to use ACCST v2.1.xx. THIS HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH SHUNNING THE CLONES!!! FrSKy cannot be held liable for the other OEM’s not willing to develop their own fix to the the flaw found in ACCST RF protocols.

From here if looks like your frustration should be aimed at the OEM for the Woops for not offering the much needed FW update to the products they offer.

Now ACCeSS is a new FrSky RF protocol that does offer many enhancements that some folks may find advantages. For marketing reasons FrSky choose to not share this propriatary tech with the clones (they have an encryption in the code). This is a smart business move! I hope this will ensure that FrSky will remain the leader in RF innovation for a long time. I see no market leadership from the low end scum like Radio Master and Jumper to address this safety issue or anything else.

If looking to switch brands please look at the whole life cycle of the product from development to safety updates.

P.S.
I don’t think FrSky is supporting the much dated D8 protocol In their new offerings. As with all things, dated tech needs to be abandoned, let go. Well from a business perspective it isn’t profitabe to keep the old tech. When was the last time you found any new product that runs on Windows 3.0?

Just wondering about which OS version you have on the X Lite radio? If it's OpenTX 2.3.12 or newer then it might as well be a compatibility issue with ACCST v1 firmware on the XJT Lite module. You could try to flash it with ACCST v2.1 firmware and see if it works then. Even though D8 protocol does not change when flashing ACCST v2.1, the communication with the radio itself does. OpenTX 2.3.12 and higher use an upgraded protocol to talk to the module and it seems to give issues when using D8 protocol in combination with ACCST v1 firmware.
