X9 Lite with XJT Lite, no power on module.

I just received a practically brand new X9 Lite. I also received a brand new XJT Lite so I could still use my legacy D4R-ii receives for a bit longer.

I loaded the X9 Lite with OTX 2.3.9, and flashed the ISRM with 2.1.0. I also flashed my RX4R with 2.1.0 and they bound up easily!

I then installed the XJT and flashed it with XJT-Lite_ACCST_2.1.0.frsk .
I have had ZERO success binding anything to the XJT in either ACCST D16 or D8. I believe the XJT Lite is not powering up. I see it's LED flash RED for about a second, then turn off.
When in binding mode, it is dark. So, any ideas what is happening and how to get it working?

Have exactly the same behavior with mine, could never get it to work. I use my multiprotocol module instead.

Thanks for replying to me on both forums!
I wish this issue had been brought to my attention prior to purchasing it! Oh well, at least I know now.
I have several PM's from AndreaHuang from FrSky on the other forum. I was advised to reach out to FrSky (sales4tech@gmail.com) and get a ticket opened.
I think I will just return this one (GetFPV) and order a Multiprotocol module.
Is anyone aware of a States side vendor that carries them?

Why not upgrade the D4R-II with a modern RX. This way you can avoid the ethical and legal issues (in the USA with the FCC) with the MPM.

What is the issue, that the XJT lite module is not compatible with X9 lite?

Obsolete tech.

It sounds to me that OP bought the XJT module to keep a few D4R-II in active rotation. It would look to me that the money would have been better spent upgrading the fleet to a set of current protocols, such as what he has done with the RX4R. I'm not aware of all the details of his situation so I ask.

So if there are some units DOA, isn't this a warranty issue with FrSky? No need to go to the trouble with a MPM.
Do the discount house (GetFPV?) offer warranty support or any after sales support?

All the best,
Konrad

Yes Konrad, that is EXACTLY why I bought the module. It is only $20. One RX4R is $24+. I own 6 D4R-ii receivers, you do the math.
Besides, D8 was not part of the ACCST2/ACCESS 2.x debacle.
I do plan on updating receivers as time and $$ permit.

I will be reaching out to GetFPV shortly to process a return. That is, unless FrSky support can provide a working solution. As of this writing, they have been silent.

True, but the D8 is obsolete.

ACCST2 has nothing to do with ACCESS. ACCST2 was FrSky's attempt at correcting a failure (A safety issue) in the old tech ACCST to allow this old tech to still be viable for a little longer. FrSky has been very good at supporting old obsolete tech. But at some point it isn't financially viable to keep old tech relevant. ACCESS is the next clean break protocol.

If the XJT lite module performed as promised it sounds like it should have been a good solution for you. Far better than the MPM.

I'm sorry to say FrSky support has historically been very poor. It is the vendors service providers like ALoft Hobbies that have shouldered the lion's share of this burden. I hope GetFPV does right by you.

True, but the D8 is obsolete.
Yet trusted and reliable, potentially more than the newer offerings. I know several people who never had an issue in 10 years with D8 gear and continue buying some since it just works.

In my case buying an MPM is much less trouble than even spending the time trying to get an RMA going with HorusRC. Especially since it has many other uses....

Again true. Like I say don't be the first upon which the new is tried.

And you live in a different regulatory environment. I agree with the FrSky/Horus sentiment. The .... might be fine if it was a viable ethical & regulatory solution.

All the best,
Konrad

I have a similar setup with an X9 Lite and XJT Lite for D8 receivers. It is very difficult to bind the RXs and I usually have to try dozens of times. In the end it works but very aggravating. All this time I thought I was doing something wrong....

Hank,
Does your XJT Lite power up? Does the LED on the back flash normally?
What firmware is on it?

.... I hope GetFPV does right by you.
GetFPV issued an RMA in just a couple minutes after I sent a request. So fast, it makes you wonder if they knew about the issue already.
I've already dropped it in the mail for a trip back to Florida.

MPM is on order, but coming from China...... someday.

Hmm, will have to play with an XJT Lite, I was not aware of any issues.

Holy CRAP!!! I might have done the pooch!

In my researching of MPM's for the X9 Lite, I was watching a video by Curry Kitten.

He is reviewing a different one than I have ordered, but he showed me something that made me Face Palm!
On the Setup screen, when you have the internal RF mode set to off and are scrolling the options for External RF mode, if you keep going, there is one for "XJT Lite". I had stopped and used "XJT"
Could that be the problem??

I can not test this because I already shipped it out RMA.

@Wayne, @Kilrah, can you test this option and see if it works?

I was using FrSky module not the one in review but there was many options or module to choose from for external module but I only seen one XJT choice.
It sounds by what your saying it could be a factor why it didn’t power up.

I've been told that with OpenTX the page numbers are NOT flags as to where one is in the menue. You/we would best be served if the page titles were used.

I checked my radio with XJT Lite and the module does NOT have the light on, regardless if in normal, bind or range check
What should I do?
But to be clear, once I get past the ordeal of binding a new receiver (D8), it functions properly with full range capacity.

Is external module turned on and XJT selected?
Maybe I should ask what modules are there to choose from when selecting external module?
A picture may be helpful.

Here’s pictures from my 9XD but xlitepro was very similar
