X9 lite S manual.

This week I got my first frsky transmitter, the lack of instructions is baffling to me. I am struggling trying to follow videos that aren’t even related to the x9 liteS. I would much rather have a printed manual. I see that aloft offers their radio setup guide books, but there isn’t one specific to this transmitter. I am really regretting this purchase, I wish I had my old JR 😢.

It is a modern radio. That is there is no OEM manual other than the pamphlet that came with the radio. Now if you are like me and love paper manuals of old there is this one, that should address your hardware.

What are you trying to program?

What I’d like to learn is what version of OpenTX do you have running on the X9 Lite S? (Is this a new purchase from Aloft Hobbies)?

May I ask why you switched from the antiquated and restrictive master/slave menu driven programing found in the JR, Futaba and Spektrum radio to the modern object driven, mixer output, programing architecture of OpenTX? I find a You-Tuber (Painless 360) can at times help with programing of OpenTX. Also have you downloaded OpenTx’s Companion? This is a program I find very helpful and useful manipulating my OpenTX model programs.

Yes this is a new purchase from aloft, it’s on the newest version open tx.

I am setting up a couple wings, and my Ahi. So elevons with high/low, rates, expo. And for the ahi flaperons, and snaps flaps. Just basic stuff that should take no more than 10 min… maybe I am too dumb for this transmitter. I’ve setup jr/futaba/spektrum transmitters in the past and never ran in to issues or lack of documentation like I have with this.

The antiquated menu was quick and never limited my needs! I switched because I got out of the hobby for a few years. I had sold all of my RC stuff.. 8yrs working at a hobby shop will burn you out.

I am not a big fan of watching YouTube videos for info, they annoy me. I just want to read a manual! Haha. I know that sounds weird but they drive me nuts. No I haven’t downloaded the companion. Unfortunately I don’t have a computer.. which is seeming like more of an issue with this tx..

I too hate the amount of time it takes to get information from a video.
That manual is well worth the cost and wait!

Well, you and I have very different experiamces with the Master/Slave menue driven radios. They drove me nuts in the 80’s and still would not be what I’d wish on my worst enemy starting out in the RC hobby. The pamphlet that came with my Futaba Super Sevens was a very bad joke! And the DX9 hasn’t shown much improvement!

NO YOU AREN’T DUMB! I assume you are just stuck in a mind set you have gotten comfortable with having dealt with the menue driven radios for so long.

And no snap flaps are not a beginner program feature. Even for the menus driven programs

I am really struggling with this thing.. it’s really frustrating. I think I am better of getting rid of this and buying something I know how to setup. I don’t have a year to waste learning this stuff. Is there a classified section on this forum where I can post this?

Yes. As you haven’t fond that section I’m sure you are having an interminable amount of frustration. But before throwing in the towel give the manual and some of the videos a try. I will say is is well worth the effort. Have you grasped the mixer output concept? That is key to OpenTx or just about any none and Master/slave architecture.

I have watched countless videos, they just make me feel dumb. I’m to the point where I am going to make a YouTube video beating this thing with a bat. It’s just not for me. I want to like it, mechanically it’s awesome it has a great feel and the gimbals are smooth. However, I don’t have the mental capacity to setup a radio like this. I need a common folk navigable radio and this isn’t it. I wish I could just send it back.
