X9 Lite flaps and flaperon programming help

iCrash

New User
I have a X9 Lite I'm setting up on a small glider. I figured out how to program rudder, elevator and ailerons (two servos, two channels) but need help programming flaperons. Also need help programming flaperons activated by toggle switch.

I'm just using the menu to program the radio.

Thanks

I strongly recommend getting one of these Thole manuals. There are a lot of sample tutorials that should help address your issues.

I assume when you say "the menu" you mean the radio and that you are not using OpenTX Companion. While you can program directly from the radio, I again strongly recommend using OpenTX Companion.

If you value videos I often like painless360 approach.

@iCrash - Will second the manuals, worth every penny.

Basically you will add a mix line to each of the ailerons, but the source will be whatever you would like to trigger the flaps. This may be a slider, throttle stick, switch, etc.. You will set the weight as needed. This is the very basics of how it works..

Let's say channel 1 is your left aileron, below that mix line you will add the additional mix line for the same channel 1 but the new mix will not be a source of aileron, let's use S1 as an example. Would look something like this:

The manual will really help you understand this much better than I can explain.

With this said, I'm on a little life long campaign to get people to use spoilers instead of full span flaps. The are much safer and usually do exactly what people are looking for with the flaperons. Basically, run your ailerons up instead of down. This will make landing much easier. I assume that is your goal?

Thanks for the recommendations on the manual and software. Just getting back into flying and still have a lot of 72 mhz gear. Thought I'd try a 2.4 mhz computer radio. Never owned a computer radio before.

Wyane,
The glider is a 1.5 mtr DLG. A Blaster 3.5 to be exact. Channels 1 & 6 are set for ailerons, not that it matters just habit.
Once I figure out the programming for launch (zoom?) then thermal (a couple degrees of flaps) I figured spoilers for landing would be a no brainer.
I thought programming from the radio menu would help become better acquainted with it. Otherwise why have the option?

I'm just a sport flyer and never have used a lot of functions and the old non-computer 72 mhz gear worked fine for me.

Cool beanz! There are a lot of fun little mixes you can do with the DLG should you want to. :) There was also a script that could track your launch performance when you fly with a vario. Never used it myself, but looked pretty sweet.

hello. I also have a blaster and an frsky x20rs radio. pretty new to this radio. blaster has the lemon rx and i have the external module to run dsmx i picked up from frsky. programming would help.
i also picked up a carbon falcon so any help there would be greatly appreciated!

OK - Interesting choice with the radio gear. May I ask why you want to run a DSMX receiver when you bought a flagship FrSky transmitter? Kind of like buying a Corvette and putting a civic motor in it. It doesn't make much sense.

Are you needing help with mixing? I'd suggest you start a new thread and let us know what you need help with.

its just what receiver was in the blaster. i do have other receivers. i also have a few other rc's with dsmx. i can swap out the receiver. i have an archer plus r6, a twr6 and a tw gr6 rx available. what would you recommend I install in the blaster. or just leave the lemon in there and bind it and go fly?
