X20S smart port pin out

Gizmo6

User
I need to use a patch cable to attempt to flash my receiver, OTA does not want to play nice. The only cable I have has 4 loose connectors vice the 3 pin Futaba style, and I have had no luck locating
any documentation that shows the correct pin out for the smart port on the X20S.

What is the model number of the receiver you are trying to update. All receivers normally come with two cables, one has a mating white connector and a servo plug, this is the cable to use for flashing the receiver. Make sure you down load the correct version of receiver firmware having the same type number as the receiver. Once you down load the firmware from the FRsky website unzip it and copy it to an appropriate folder on your radio. I created a folder called "Flashing Firmware" Also some of the older receivers have ACCST and ACCESS versions of firmware, ensure you flash the version you want. Not all receivers have OTA capability. The X20S has a flashing port near to the SD card, its a Futaba style 3 pin servo receptacle.

Flashing a TD SR12 and the only cable I have that fits the upgrade port has 4 single pin connectors (red, blue, black, yellow ) on the end that attaches to the transmitter.
The connectors are NOT in a Futaba style connector so you can arrange them in any order you want. What is the correct order of wires going to the unlabeled X20S smart
port left to right when viewed top down with the sticks facing the viewer?

Have a look at the manual:
The drawing on the first page shows the pin assignment on the 4-pole white connector. You will need "GND" (black), "VCC" (red), and "Upgrade" (either yellow or blue, but when you look at he connector you'll know which one). Now look at any existing Futaba style connector (with that "nose" for polarity). Red is in the center, black is where black is on a Futaba connector, and white on Futaba corresponds to yellow or blue.

Thank you, good info.
I had already determined which wires are needed but not being a Fuatba user I had no idea what their pin out is and nothing in either the Tx or Rx manuals state how the smart port connection is pinned on the Tx end.
I love my FrSky radio gear but I hate their unwillingness to provide proper documentation.

The polarising tab on a Futaba connector indicates the signal (white/yellow wire.

Thank you.
I managed to re-flash 3.0.1 on this receiver in the hopes that the dropped channels were due to OTA flash having required multiple attempts resulting in a bad FW update.
Seems this never installed Rx is defective Ch 1-5 work as expected 6-12 do nothing even though the transmitter is outputting signals. Definitely not Tx as using a second TD SR12
with the same model all channels work as expected.

Check the receiver options and make sure channel outputs 6-12 are correctly allocated as channel outputs.

Thank you Mike,
Ch6 -12 were set for individual surface outputs (Ail 3&4 /Ele3&4) switching to Aux allows them to function again and saved me over $100 to replace the receiver.
