When I powered on my new x20s the models I had programmed were gone. What caused this? Guess I start over but I hesitate if all can be lost again. What do I do now?
Hmm, not run into this. Try a quick and dirty "fake" setup for testing. Then power down and power back on and see if it is still there. If it is, and you have some time, turn it off over night and see if it is still good the next day. Please report back if you are having issues.
I have not looked yet, but there should be a model backup feature...? Hmm, just looked and didn't see anything..
Since model files are stored on the SD card, this may indicate a faulty card. I replaced mine with a SanDisk industrial grade card on day one, just in case.
You can back up your models by accessing the SD card and save the folder called models. I save the entire SD card contents just to be sure. When you access the SD card using the USB cable make sure you un-install the SD card on your PC before removing the USB cable. Also don't remove the SD card while your radio is powered up.
Are you using the latest version of Ethos released firmware Release 1.0.10.
Probably a dumb question but have you looked at the SD card to see what is on it? "Invalid data" sounds like it could be that format change from one version to another? Had you updated the firmware version?

I think a new sd card has solved the problem. So far. My next question would be how do I get special functions to find the audio files? I have values but not things like “low rx voltage” which should be there as a track to play.
I will tell you that in the past the low quality micro SD card supplied by FrSky has given me fits! I'm not savvy enough with consumer electronics to have isolated the faulty micro SD card issue from my own ineptitude manipulating FrSky's files. Be very careful of the file name and format when doing any file manipulation.

The X20 series radios can play all the sound tracks from the OTX series radios. The only difference is in the audio folder you will see the different folders for the various languages, EN being English. I deleted the other languages as I only use English. So simply deposit the various audio clips ( Bat Low, Motors armed ETC) in the AUDIO folder root directory. Its a bit different compared to OTX as these audio clips were in the EN folder root directory. So when you click on the AUDIO folder you should see all your favorite audio clips and a folder called EN which are the system audio clips in a folder called SYSTEM.
