X20RS 3D/4D ESC throttle Setup

Fairly new to the X20RS and looking for help to setup a 4D throttle with two curves controlled by a switch.

I will run the ESC in 4D mode continuously and want to use the switch to change the throttle curve from 3D mode 0% to 100% to 4D mode with the curve at -100% (full reverse thrust) to 0 at center (throttle off) to +100% (full forward thrust).

I will also need a separate throttle cut switch for safety. I see where that is available in the standard mix.

Thanks,
Jeff

Easy, so the throttle cut is available in the mix menu, labelled "Throttle Cut' In the curves page you can setup two curves, label them as required. you can have multiple points as required. And these can be allocated to a channel and a switch.

I understand you can setup two curves, I just don’t know how to do more than one and assign them to a switch to change between them. Ca n you tell me how to do this?

Thanks

Jeff

I have never done 3D to 4D please explain, is this a second input to the ESC to perform these changes or is this altering the the throttle channel itself.

Single throttle input to the esc. Need a curve for normal throttle 0% - 100% form3D flying and a second curve for 4D flying -100%(reverse) - 0% (throttle off) - +100% (forward thrust). Also need a throttle cut for both.

I have a 5 point curve setup as above for 4D as described above with a 0% center plateau for throttle dead zone and while it works, the throttle cut only is active on the bottom half of the curve.

I tried setting up a flight mode for 4D separately but switching back and forth between flight modes the throttle required going below center on the stick to get it to switch from one mode to another even with the assigned switch activated.

I could see using some logic switching to make this process seamless.

Possible Logic:
You are in 3D mode and want to go to 4D.
Flip a switch to alter mode (or button or radio position)
If 4D mode is activated, then wait for throttle stick to hit center before activating 4D.
Reverse for switching back to 3D, but waiting for throttle to get to a safe position..

Just a thought. I have never flown with 4D, but messing around with some submarines with throttle setup like a 4D, it was a bit of a learning curve. (especially with no deadband at the center on those subs to help find neutral.)

p.s. Subs are fun - Who knew? Well, when they have enough power to jump out of the water.

I do this all the time with my helicopters, except we call it "throttle hold", I make a logical switch that is always on

Then make your throttle curve (flatlined at off)

Then add it as a throttle mix.

I do this, because like you said, throttle cut has some default behavior that doesn't work for "us" ;)
