X20 Release and updates

This is a very low draw on the battery, so you can get away with the 7, but 7.4 would be a little easier on the battery.

i havent verified this personally but i was asking in a x20 facebook group about how to program for elevons and got this response:
"In the wizard just select 2 ailerons, no elevators, no rudder. It assumes its a flying wing and all mixes and trims work straight off. Recently set up an FVT3 like this, dead easy."

Just a heads up - There is a little bug in the ISRM firmware for our EU friends running the X20. FrSky has a fix already in beta testing as I write this. If you are running LBT (AKA Listen Before You Talk, or EU firmwares) then you will want to update your ISRM firmware when it is released. If you live outside the EU and do not need the LBT, we suggest running the FCC firmware instead.

The good news is this bug does not seem to exist in the FCC firmware. :) All radios shipped from Aloft are running the FCC firmware.

You can calibrate the battery voltage level as well as set the low battery voltage warning level.

8.4 volt fully charged, check with a volt meter and check the TX displayed voltage is the same. 7.4 voltage is a very conservative low voltage setting when running a 2S Lipo pack.

My observation on the 7V setting was that the transmitter shut off occured in less than a minute after the warning. In addition when I charged the unit up the green power on led did not blink or shut off . As a matter of fact i terminated the charge at 8.5 volts indicated.

So you need png not bmp for image files. But man they look great.

What is the process to bind a rx6r? Do I need to update the RX first? Couldn't get it to bind.

Best to up date the receiver firmware to be sure, then you also need to determine if its with ACCST V2 or ACCESS.

when you say latest do you mean ACCESS? you have to register them first, then the will bind without a button

The hardware on the X8R cannot support ACCESS so you only have D16 as the protocol. So it binds the same as before as long as you have flashed the it with V2 version of receiver firmware.

Give the firmware install another try, it may not have completed. Make sure you eject those drives on windows machines!!

Told they will arrive here first week of June. But I like to back these estimates up with a warning that shipping times with Covid are at best a wild guess!! The X20 really should have been here a week ago. I have a shipment of sensors from Europe that have gone missing for a few months. A load of gliders slowly moved towards us for about 2 months.. You get the idea. Other times things sail through.
Any updates for the X20S arrival?

I have two x8r and i updated them both to the most recent 2.1 or whatever firmware and i couldnt get them to bind. I was able to bind an archer one using the registration and than bind proces so im not totally useless :p

I see in the menu for 2.4 there are 3 types i can choose. Which one do i want for these old access rx's?

The process i have been trying is hold down the button and than power on the rx while also having the bind enabled on the transmitter.

You refer to "these old access rx's". The X8R is ACCST. Do you have ACCST selected on the Tx?

Your bind process is correct for ACCST.

Mike

The firmware for the X8R is as follows. Did you flash the receiver with firmware type "X8R_ACCST_2.1.0_FCC.frk" The other firmware is the European version LBT, don't use this unless you are in Europe.

As Mike suggested when you are binding you need to use transmission protocol selection on your transmitter D16 and not ACCESS before binding.

Yes when binding the X8R hold down the little button and apply power, continue to hold the button for an additional second. You should get two solid red and green led lights indicating its ready for binding. Then press the bind button on the TX. The receiver leds will flash. Power down the receiver and exit bind mode. On re applying power to the X8R the led should be green indicating its bound.

I like to put the receiver in bind mode first, then the TX, this allows me to see the LEDs change on the receiver when it takes the bind.
