X20 Release and updates

Thought it was time to keep you posted on things with a new thread about the X20 release.

As I write this we expect our first batch of X20 very soon. We will be opening each radio and doing our own inspections of them while we also update the RF and Ethos firmwares to the most recent stable versions. For details you can monitor the FrSky Github area:

Please keep in mind as you read things there, reported issues may be very rare or isolated. They have been resolving issues pretty darn quick, but that also means that firmware updates are still more fluid than I would like to see.

Our goal at Aloft Hobbies is to give you the best radio possible. So the radios include the loaded SD card, battery, and the latest firmware at the time of shipping. We will probably do a few videos to help folks out.

In the mean time, you may want to check out the Ethos Manual that FrSky has already updated, great to see them keeping it current!

Questions? Feel free to ask!

Thanks Wayne. I'm glad you are taking these steps to make sure we receive the best possible radio. I'm anxious to get my hands on the X20.

I agree, this is exceptional service! I'll definitely order mine from Aloft as well when the time comes. Since this will be my first FrSky radio I will wait till the dust has settled, because I won't have a backup radio for any aircraft converted to FrSky.

Told they will arrive here first week of June. But I like to back these estimates up with a warning that shipping times with Covid are at best a wild guess!! The X20 really should have been here a week ago. I have a shipment of sensors from Europe that have gone missing for a few months. A load of gliders slowly moved towards us for about 2 months.. You get the idea. Other times things sail through.

Mine came in the mail yesterday. Its heavier than I was thinking, feels well made. I spent maybe 20 minutes with it, and I think I have a serviceable DLG model programmed up. Granted, the glider is hanging in my office at work, so I won't be able to try it there until Monday. But very cool so far. I like that I had been doing things with special functions, like launch offsets, and now they are all just in the mixer.

Yeah I brought mine with me on a camping trip to fort Bragg this weekend. Opened up and kind of went through the menus and just kind of looked at it. Having a touchscreen is pretty amazing. I don't see any automatic elavon or flying wing style pre-made mixes so I'm going to have to look into that when I get back home as I don't remember how to do it on the fly.

Alright, verified, DLG model is doing what I want, damned bind button broke on the RX, so I'm not sure I'll be updating that one to ACCESS, but is worked in D16 mode (GRX6 receiver) Anyhow this is pretty good stuff I think. I'm going to try attaching the resultant model. I'm actually kinda currious if someone can just stick it on their TX and have it work, or if you are intersted in how I did the model. I should mention that I updated to 1.0.6 last night. That was super easy, but it I'm not sure that models are backwards compatible yet. They have stated that models should be forwards compatible. I'm been able to put images, and wav files on and use them.

I received my X20 over the weekend and took it out to the field this morning with a Slow Stick.
I know...OVERKILL... but better to practice with a $34 airplane.
Does anyone have an idea of a reasonable low voltage alarm value for the transmitter?
The fully charged value seems to be 7.7 and the alarm was set at 7.0 when I go it.
