We have a number of X12S prototype radios. These are not fit to be used, but they have a lot of good parts if someone would like to figure out a use for them.

If no one wants any, they may get spray painted and handed out as trophies for the MOM races.

On a related note, we have some very nice metal radio cases available. Oddly they seem to fit radios like the X12S very nicely. $40

Just so you know, the cases are nice, the radios can not be flown, they are not safe and there is no firmware for them. $40 for the case, radio free. They have a lot of higher end salvagable parts.

Did you want us to ship to you, or hold off till the next time we see one another? These radios weigh, well, alot. Probably $15 to ship. Maybe more.

I am using the box that my x14s came in and I always get jealous when the spektrum people have the cool metal boxes.

I have a damaged a slider, though I don't know if these radios have compatible components.

It's not a big deal. Save it for next time only if you can. Either I'll swing by or at another meetup. Thanks!

Why are they not safe?
I never got a production X12S, only PCB'S, then a housing from Bertrand. It is likely erskyTx will run on these as I have a test in to handle prototype or production circuitry as my Tx does have a prototype main board.

Static in dry weather will shut them down mid flight. Something that was caught in the beta program. FrSky changed every circuit for the production versions and some of the chips are different, thus the firmware issues.

Thanks @Wayne , received the X12s radio yesterday afternoon.

after some hard work got the radio un-bricked.

My trick was to use an ST-LINK interface board connected directly to the special purpose pads present on the radio motherboard.
Then , I flashed the opentx-x12s-lua-noheli-en.bin using the STM32CubeProgrammer.exe software.

I still have an issue regarding the SD card, see the screen showing the error message.

Interesting work , for now I hope to be able to use an external Multi module in the module bay ,
and ignore the internal module. Do you have an opinion about the viability of this proposal, Wayne ?

PS: I will need to replace the coin cell battery also.

As I warned you, this radio has no static protection built in. When flying on a low humidity day, simply walking over to a landing area may be enough to shut the radio down. FrSky had to redesign all of the boards to resolve this issue. As a side note, they also did the same for the Tarnis at the time just as added precaution, but the old X9D never developed the static issue.

I highly recommend you do not fly this radio.

I remember your warning very well, and that is why I asked.
I misunderstood the use of the word 'static' , thinking that it was just an RF issue , possibly solved with an external module .

Do you actually mean Electrostatic Discharge (ESD) ?
In that case , it is a whole new project , and potentially a massive project.
