X10s to ETHOS

Post #14 has the link to the special ISRM "Horus upgrade" firmware, if you wnat to try again.

That may be so. But drop Aloft a line through there contact us link on their flash page.

Often factory approved service centers have information/tools that are not published. Not saying that Aloft has a secret decoder ring, but give them a try.
Thank you I sent them a request for help. thanks for your reply.

Are you aware the up dated ISRM module for the non Express version of X10S requires a special version of the ISRM firmware. Aloft can help you with this version. If you try flashing this upgrade module with the Express version ISRM it wont work.
I am now . !! other than attempting the wrong flash. i would think the firmware would say wrong module and NO NO NO bad person LOL

Hi All, Yes I have done the same thing and killed my ISRM Board. Another new board from HorusRC and then loaded with the correct firmware works. It's a mistake very easy to do given the lack of correct documentation. Would be interested to know if there is a way of making the original ISRM work. Was thinking of sending it back to HorusRC for them to repair.
Would be interested to hear any comments
Cheers Dave

My guess is that you would just get a new board. Much cheaper for them then spending time figuring out the problem and fixing it.

Hi Dave, I have tried to reach out to FRSKY US and the person that eventually responded ( JUAN ) never got back and totally ignored any follow-up ! However Aloft has been helping and I purchased an x20s. I am hoping the ISRM board issue still has a positive ending.
Good luck

I agree!! This is the sort of things I would like to see FrSky adding to all of the products, makes the entire product line much better!

rcboutique: Just reading this and thought I'd pass this on. I had something similar happen to me. I installed the X10S upgrade to Access kit with ISRM. The upgrade went fine including ISRM firmware upgrade but I couldn't bind to a receiver. It was probably a minor issue but I (stupidly?) decided to go back to the initial state and repeat the firmware installs. I didn't swap out the ISRM so it was still installed when I tried to replace the original firmware. The firmware failed of course but rather than swap out the ISRM I started the upgrade firmware install again. The main firmware installed fine but this time the ISRM firmware failed though I hadn't physically changed anything. I tried multiple attempts, removing power etc. but the ISRM kept failing and I had to go back to the old XJT board which worked fine. I sent the ISRM board to FRsky. The technician confirmed that the board seemed fine but concurred that it wouldn't take the firmware. He said he would pass the issue on to the engineering team and he sent me a new ISRM board which worked fine. I'm fully upgraded and flying. I bugged FRsky a couple of times about the issue. I was curious what went wrong. They didn't answer what the root cause of the issue was and just sent me another ISRM board, :-). It seemed to me that something in the ISRM firmware programming got set by the wrong firmware and stopped the correct firmware from being able to re-flash. I see FRsky's point in that the X10 upgrade is old now and water under the bridge. Cheaper to just replace the boards than waste time getting to the root cause. They supported their product so I cant complain...... It's interesting though :-)

Further to my post of the 8thAug regarding failed IRSM board. Well I sent the board back to HorusRC with a covering letter a few days after my post.
After a few months with no response sent e-mail to Support at HorusRC, they replied with in the hour to say they had not seen my package with the returned board, but they would let me know if it turned up.
I was by this time feeling well, that's the end of the matter, when at the end of November, I received an e-mail from HorusRC saying they had received the board, which they had repaired and asking how I would like it returned.
With this level of support I was very impressed, and placed an order for a x20s, with a request to pop my repaired IRSM Board in with the Radio.
This morning 13th Dec received my order with the enclosed board, all working correctly.
You could not wish for better service thank you FrSky/HorusRC for your excellent product support.
