Which mechanism gliders follow for flying?

Hello Everyone,
I want to know that which mechanism gliders follow for flying. without any engine how can they fly independently in the air. Also I want to know that how long glider fly in the air. If anyone have knowledge about it then kindly share these info with me. I will be very thankful to you.

This answer might be a bit to esoteric, but the answer is solar powered!

Basically, if the conditions are right you can fly for a very long time. Let's put it this way, you will need to land because you need to use the restroom. This is more typical for slope flying.
 
I have found that slope sailplanes often will fly until me neck gets tired of looking upward and starts hurting. Then there days where all you can do is toss the model and make an immediate landing.

Slope soaring is done in an updraft caused by the slope or cliff. Essentially air is flowing up faster than the sailplane is falling. Thermal flying is similar but there is a bubble of hot air and as long as a sailplane stays in the rising bubble the sailplane goes up. Dynamic soaring is accomplished by alternating between high speed air and slow air to lift the model.

Simplistically, I think of my sailplane as usually moving down relative to the air surrounding it and speeding up. Anytime it is going up through the air it is slowing and approaching a stall where it will fall out of the sky. The. trick is to spend most of the time in air that is going up.
