What is the best RC sim you have used?

Hawaii Sloper

Very Strong User
I have been flying for many years and have had a variety of flight sims. I really do enjoy using sims just for fun but have recently been interested in increasing my skill level as a pilot. I really want to be proficient at using flaps since this is the one thing that could change what I can fly locally not just what I can fly when I come to Sunset or visit @thenated0g
Many will say the best way is to simply go out and fly. And I agree....to a point. I don't always have the time and sometimes the inclination to go to the one local spot I have available. I have also learned many things from using sims such as muscle memory, good orientation skills, some inverted flight, and some bad habits 😅.
What are the sims that you guys have used that are good at teaching piloting skills and maneuvers?
What did you like about them and what didn't you like?
Which ones are particularly good for gliders? Also not concerned with the price for paid versions. For gliders Picasim seems to be pretty decent.

I have Aerofly RC 7 (I think) the free version
Have had all version of RealFlight up to 6
Also Picasim
A ridiculous incredibly fun FPV plane game called Wings

Each of those have good and bad points especially UI issues (picasim being the worst but also in some ways the best)
What do you think?
Thanks, Kelly

My order for best feeling gliding sim is

Picasim
Aero fly
Realflight.

Wings is great for FPV and multiplayer with friends.

Hoping somebody mentions one that we didn't know about.

I will throw out a fairly new one, FS One 2022. Free, even has cool stuff like aerotowing.

I always like Phoenix.

I have never been a fan of Realflight. It is okay, but is somewhat too game-ish and a little too easy to fly. This is particularly true of helicopters.

I read that phoenix was dead. Did it come back? ( seriously lol not mythologically)

I would like to find phoenix. I have been using real flite because I lost phoenix. Real flight does not prepare people for ground loops or tip stalls. Also the wind environment is useless

Are there any that work with Mac?

I used to use Picasim many moons ago but I'd like to find an alternative.

Doc.
About 6 years ago I got Realflight to work on a Mac using a version of windows 7 on a virtual PC program. Finally switched to a PC with windows 10 with latest version of RealFlight. Requires some tweaking of the physics of RealFlight but much easier to use. A deep dive into RealFlight will result in the best sim experience I have used and I have tried many others including the ones you and Cole mentioned.
I will send a link to Dave Scott’s RC Flight School website and he has tweaked many of the models I fly to the point they handle like the real model. However, I am not aware of any sailplanes he has modified for RealFlight.

The new Aerofly 10 is out on Steam…
Almost 60 glider models and dozens of flying sites with the 2 expansion packs.
I think almost 300 planes in total for the whole sim. Looks fantastic.
@thenated0g and I both have come to the same conclusion that it is probably the closest to real flight of any of the sims we have tried. Picasim is good but very limited.
