What is Open TX

OpenTX is the computer program that runs on any OTX radio such as most of the FRsky radios and also on a number of the clone, copy radios.

The key is that it is built by pilots to address modern needs. Most of the old Master/Slave pull down menus OS's are kludged from ancient programs going back to the late 80's. (The big players like Futaba are loath to give up on their ancient OS's. Their customer base is comfortable with the limitations of the Master/Slave pull down menu OS) If you are use to those then you have to learn to let old habits go. Now if starting from a clean sheet of paper most will find that OpenTX is actually much easier to use than the Master/Slave pull down menus OS's (The simple 4ch might actually be easier with Master/Slave pull down menus OS's but start to add mixing and OpenTX starts to out shine the Master/Slave pull down menus OS's).

Konrad, once he figures out version, etc. Walk him through a basic model set up. He flies rotor, but a basic fixed wing to figure out navigation of open tx would be good.
I never used opentx so I can't help.

I fly helis but not quads. Not sure what I can do. Henny is the guy here on the Aloft forums that is real good at getting to the core issue real fast with OpenTX. But the idle up and collective curves are pretty much the same regardless of OS. So if the T-Rex 600n has flow it should all be straight forward.

Hi Konrad. Setting up for rotor craft is the most basic setup as the flight control does everything. No idle up or collective curves. Nearly all the setup for rotor craft is on the Telemetry side, setting up Rotor craft flight modes which is using a 3 or 6 position switch and that,s about it. Not sure if he fly's FPV or Mission Planner or Beta flight but the setup is much the same. I did fly helis about 40 years ago with the Kavan Jet ranger but that's when all the mixing etc was mechanical using a 5 channel analog radio on 29meg.

I was just stating that I don't fly quads. I too have an antique heli in a Schluter Heli Star. I still fly her on rare occations using an old JR on 72 mHz. But what an improvement the flybar less heli is. I have a plethera of 450, 600 and maybe one 700 T-Rex heli. All on 2.4 gHz (Spektrum protocols as range with a heli isn't an issue). It is now difficult to find parts for any of my helis.
