What do you think?

Maybe not so useful for the Thumb twiddlers?

Doc
Actually Doc I originally removed the hand rests from my X9E and with shorter sticks was able to “Thumb“ w/o any issues. Eventually I started pinching and found that worked better for me. The X9E is a great radio as I’m sure the new Tandem XE will be. 🙃

Sorry guys - FrSky sprung these changes on us the other day and shared minimal info.

The retractable pots seemed silly to me, but think they will work just fine. Hey, I still think color displays on our radios is a bit over the top, but people expect them on radios now. Maybe we will all want retractable pots in the future.

Waiting for FrSky to share more about the radio. We will be stocking this one. The X9E was popular enough for us, and these types of radios have a large following on the commercial side of things.

I’ll be the first in line when they are finally in stock!

The XE is finally on both the FrSky and Horus websites! Sweet!

I could see the benefit of retractable pots, for setting stuff like gyro gain you don’t want to accidentally bump. But the OpenTX ability to remember pot position and warn you if it got bumped or needs to be different for a different model works well.

Colors screens, completely agree. They are so cheap that it’s now the “just because you can, doesn’t mean you should” era. Benefit of the old LCD screens is no backlight is required during the day, so very little power use. Essentially negligible for a radio. Most color screens are very power hungry in comparison.

Exception is something like the reflective memory LCD screen in my former Pebble Time smartwatch. It doesn’t need a backlight in normal lighting conditions, like like a regular B&W LCD, and uses barely more power than such. Downside is the muted, limited color palette.

Just bought the X18S, as far as looks go I have no problem with them.
The 20E looks to much like the old version, here in the Midwest a few guys flew those tray radios but have moved on to X10's or others.
The guy that complained about the ergonomics must be some kind of confused about Ergonomics.
Oh wait, yes I see it now the photos sizes are too small for my human hands.
The battle ship grey color is really giving them the "Plastic" look.
