The lower one has some potential but it looks a little wide and boxy. And I know it has more buttons but none of them seem to be quick, easy access for trim. If it could take some more ergonomics from the X-Lite and keep the side sliders, it might be a keeper. In all hoBeaty though I wouldn’t buy either, unfortunately.
Ergonomics are incredibly important to me. I'd love the feel of the more premium radios but I went with X-Lite Pro and X9D SE for the layout and ergos. The X9D SE is so close to perfect IMO - big enough screen, small enough form factor, good switches, etc. but could have a better shell, much better slider knobs and pots, and could fit the hand a bit better.
I really want (and can afford) a premium Taranis but the ergos of Horus and the other top end radios just don't do it for me as a thumb flier. I don't even know what they're called because the ergos turn me off that bad, in my personal opinion. I know it works for others.
What I'd change about the X9D SE:
Thicker, more premium shell
Better quality slider pots and knobs
Slightly more curved shell
I guess a fancy color screen would keep it 'current.'
What I would change about X-Lite Pro:
Ability to use heavier springs
Easier access to all trim switches
Bigger screen
Dedicated buttons for menus, versus long side press of joystick, e.g.
More substantial switch levers
