Welcome to the Aloft Forums!

Thanks for starting the forum! As a novice can use all the help I can get, only can learn so much from You Tube. I would like to see a way to meet other folks for any type of flying or finding places close to home to fly. I am in San Francisco during the week and Marin County CA on the weekends.

BTW, Aloft Hobbies rocks! They have been really helpful to me as I am learning and they don't even mind dropping in to pick up merch in person!

Hey Paul,

Yeah, it can be a little tough to find flying buddies in the Bay Area at times. We don't have many official flying fields, mostly people flying at random sites at random times. We need to come up with some sort of solution. Maybe we can talk to the city of Novato as they are starting plans for a huge new park across from our parking lot. Maybe we could talk them into assigning some of that polluted old air base land for airplanes again. :)

Yes, I located the preferences.... RCgroups and flite test forums send me e-mail once a day... this forum send e-mail immediately...
Thanks for the temporary fix:)

Hi Wayne, I would like parallel off that with you in a activate/reactivate

It is getting to be a subject of discussion shore to shore activating new and reactivate past sites . Where I am on long Island there is a constant effort toward promoting and presenting Model Aviation of all types as a safe enjoyable and educational hobby.
This may assume it's own path. We have state and county parks where we enjoy a large variety of RC flying but there is difficulties establishing and sustaining slope soaring sites.A information exchange of success that has been had and obstacles that have been overcome might be a worthwhile venture .
Let that roll around a while . Then let me know if this might be something that might grow legs and travel a good path

Helloo Aloft from Australia,
Hello back to you!

...but there is difficulties establishing and sustaining slope soaring sites...
Funny we have the opposite on this side of the country. It is tough to get powered flight fields but we have a nice abundance of slope sites to pick from. Though it might be hard to start a new one. There are some hills nearby I would love to fly from.. One of these days I'll track down the land owner and see if something can be worked out.

Happy to see you guys setting this up! I like Aloft, my go to shop for FrSky. ;)

Just stopping in to say Hi! I go by “heli-headcase” on RCG but you can call me Steve. Later...

Hey Jim! I traveled to Utah over the weekend and got to visit some snow. Had to shovel out the rental car. About 2 days in the white stuff and I am good for the year. :)

Hmm, Ohio, so only about 3-1/2 more months of cold weather? Good time to build up a fleet of planes. :)

Actually got in a couple hours on the slope this past weekend! Veritable heat wave of 40° with 12-15 winds. Sunshine made it great! But, yes, the cold is back so build season is in force.

Hey Wayne and everyone. Happy to be here my thing is Aerial Combat copters and Giant Drone Racing (X-Class)

Hello and thank you Aloft for letting me in!
Now I will look around.

Thanks for getting back Wayne. Well the time honored; explore, contact, promote, Display, and establish any possible advantage of having us there. In the area for primary and secondary revenue still works. Then seeking locals in the area to get involved tell everyone how much fun they had!
In the coming weeks . I will and we all should now and we grow post pictures of where and what we are doing and how much fun we are having
Reason being at a handful of members. We are shore to shore and international coverage this seed could grow a whole new revival of model aviation and happy hobbyists. Need to go for now

I’m always down to fly in Marin!
Great! Right now I fly almost exclusively behind the Marin Civic Center on the weekend. The only problem is is gets pretty windy in the afternoons and as a novice I have a hard time in the wind. I try to get out there before noon.

I checked out the College of Marin field but they have been doing work on it for months and there is no end in sight. I flew out of a small dirt parking lot there but pretty tight for landings and not a lot of room to make a mistake and bring the plane in.

Any other suggestions for flying fields in Marin? Anyone know if you can fly anywhere in San Francisco, Golden Gate Park? I know they do RC sailboats there.

There is a San Francisco city ordinance that prohibits aircraft flying in the city, both full size and models (be them control line or RC).

OK - I would love to see some pictures or video of your activities. Any chance you can start a new thread and show that off?
