I have not given up but instead have become lazy and rely on Mike Shellim's templates for all my gliders. His calibration mode is brilliant, it is not difficult at all to set up a new six servo electric sailplane and then do some minor tweaks to it to suit your liking. If anyone is interested, Lenny Keer (US F5B team member) has reworked Mike's template a little and made it more suitable for F5B gliders. If anyone would like this template just let me know. I'm sure Lenny would be happy if others use it too. EDIT: I checked w/ Lenny and he's happy to share so here it is
Here are the notes: OK, I made a few changes to the first template to better suit an F5B model. Flight modes were changed to Speed, Launch, and Thermal and I disabled the separate "Power mode". I set up two different motor ramps -- a slow one for Launch and Thermal and a faster one for Speed. You can see the results in the servo monitor and you can of course adjust them as needed. It would be a trivial matter to add even more motor ramps (I use 4 different ramps in my competition models).
