Since we are selling the X20 and X20S in pre-buy on our site I thought it would be a great time to start up a category to discuss this new firmware on these radios.

As of right now, you have a few options to test out Ethos.
  1. You can download their Ethos Simulator onto a Windows computer.
  2. You can install it on an X10 or X10S Express
  3. You can upgrade the older X10 or X10S with an ACCESS ISRM install, then load Ethos onto the radio.
  4. You can upgrade the X12S with an ACCESS ISRM install, then load Ethos onto the radio.
  5. Get your hands on an X20, X20S or X20HD and play!

Currently do not see the Ethos simulator link, but it was up a few days ago.

p.s. If you find yourself near our shop, swing by and play with the new X20. It is one of those radios you should get your hands on to really get a feel for Ethos, but also enjoy the great ergonomics of this radio.

Having held the X20 I can say it has one of the better ergonomics for a hand held radio. It is in the same class as the Multiplex Royal Evo. Actually it feels a lot more solid as the case is rigid and heavier.

Many of the flyers in our club are very keen to own this radio. I believe it will be a new beginning for FRsky.
 
I ordered mine with encouragement from my wife. She literally almost insisted I buy one. Good catch that one. I hope the X20S with Ethos will be just a good of a catch.

Any information regarding the sound format for this radio. I think I'm going to try to get my Amazon Alexa to speak all of the new sound files and I'll use a jack to capture the sounds.

I haven't played with the sound files yet, but I suspect they are about the same as OpenTX, but I think you can use longer file names.
 
I see that that OpenTX is not usable with this radio. I have so many planes on OpenTX that unless they will convert from OpenTX to this new system I couldn't even consider it.
 
I really like the look of this radio and if its running Special functions and logical switches it will be a ripper - I am not going for the bundle as I have enough FRsky compatible rx gear so I will just wait a bit! I read someone looks to be doing some OTX converter but in the end it would probably be better to learn the OS!

This assumes that there is commonality in the programs to allow this. Then there are all the versions of OpenTX that would muddy the issue. Also let's not forget the inevitable issue of lost in translation.

For safety of flight this might not be a good idea.
 
Exactly, at this point all I've seen is pretty obviously dishonest "everything's perfect, you'll love it!" posts with no substance that are quite hard to take as anything worthy. Everyone who has one feels the need to "justify" FrSky giving them a beta/review unit...
