WANTED: Used DLG for first time DLG Pilot

Hey folks,

I've been flying/building FPV quads for a while and recently started on electric gliders with my 4 and 5 year old. I just discovered DLGs and wanted to get into them.

I'm looking to purchase a used/beat-up DLG as my first time flier. I'd be happy to pay for shipping or if you're an hour or two away from Seattle/Tacoma, Washington, I'd be happy to pick them in person.

If you have none to sell, I'm happy for any suggestions or thoughts on what a good first time DLG would be.

Thanks folks!

Keep an eye out on rcgroups for a used one. 1.5 meter size fly better than the 1m but they are all fun. I have both 1m and 1.5m and enjoy flying both of them. Good luck with your search

I may take a little heat for saying this but the Labelle was my first DLG and I think it’s a pretty good plane for learning the basics.

It probably depends a lot on a person's flying skills, but for me, as a beginner, I needed a plane that could handle hard landings and mistakes. The Labelle is made of EPP (foam), so with some tape and glue, you can repair a cracked wing and be back flying in a few minutes.

If I’d started with a standard composite DLG, I would have spent most of my time trying to figure out how to repair damaged carbon fiber and fiberglass, and wouldn’t have gotten much actual DLG flying practice. Once I got the basics down, I bought a used 20-year-old 1.5 m composite DLG, which is my current plane :).

P.S. Don’t forget your PPE when repairing composites :).
