VP Models Cubic.

I’m of the opinion that X08 is the better performing servo.

I don’t know how you are switching between the BEC and buffer battery. But it is my experience that the modern switching voltage regulator is far more durable than the linear voltage regulator of yesteryear. I see little benefit from the added complexity and weight of a back up buffered Vss.

I do not switch, they are both active at the same time. but the battery is switched. Some clubs have a requirement that an electric not be armed in the pits, and with the switched battery, I can verify operation in the pits without arming the ESC. Then the ESC is armed when I move to the flight-line. This also provides insurance I am not going to spike my BEC either and find the extra few grams worth the weight penalty.

I do not know about putting IDS into these planes. I'd be shy of boring out the foam for the pushrods for fear of weakening the structure.

I'm pretty sure most people are using the external linkages on these.

Definitely stay out of the “D” tube area!

Im late to the party. The orange fiberglass / carbon was calling for me. Will be my first plane in the "thermal" type category. Cant wait for it to come

..... snip. I am flying a JR 12X with a glider program which I am having problems figuring out. It is just taking time, this is my second excursion into gliders but my 2m I am using plane programming. I have flown complex models before using the full capabilities of that radio, but glider programming is new to me. snip....

I do not think there was / is much love for glider pilots supporting JR and all the youtube channels out there are for jets or giant scales. I have found that Sherman-Knight has some guides at his red-sailplane web site. They are not free though. I do find that the sailplane programming guide for the 9303/9503 that he sells for 10 bucks and some change is quite helpful and does have parallels to my XG-11 / T-44 that does help and I find value in getting it. Just make sure and save it to a back up as you pay for 3 downloads then have to buy it again. oh dont ask me how i know

You picked a great first thermal model! You will love it. It will do things you have not been able to do with the other models, so take your time and get to know her.

well the orange carbon glass arrived and hmmm. ive never experienced an unboxing like this. "hmmm" as in "ok lets see what a thermal hunter is all about" then i grab my scale and start taking out the components ,weighing them and documenting it. im kind of boggled at the weights this is like the weight of my conscendo but triple the size. the packaging done by Aloft's team was well done and man oh man boy did i score on some candy, no single pieces this time around. hahaha i like the touch of candy. when i opened the box i sent a text to a friend who I fly with up at point of the mountain with a picture of the candy "guess what i just got"

these planes are new to me so i consider the wing weight variance of 6 grams as just out right incredible considering the size of the wings. Here are the measurements. I am sorry, I used my food scale which does not have grams but shows kilograms to the thousands so these numbers are still kind of in grams. i tossed 30 grams onto it under the categorie neobie cuz im sure ill have a mess of glue here or there and not the exact perfect length servo wiring
