Vintage systems?

When I saw the title vintage systems I was expecting something like I used as a child in the (not so) good old days, the first radio I tried in a model plane had only one channel which was sort of digital as it only had either on or off it was a single valve cardboard box that had a wire going to an old car battery the system could only be on or off and it had an old clockwork mechanism that moved a cog 90 deg each time you pressed the button on the transmitter the clockwork system would move the rudder from straight to left then to straight again then the next press moved it right then the next it was back to straight and around it went until it needed winding up again the only way to get the plane down was to wait for it to run out of fuel (it made you think hard about how much you put in) that was around 1965-1968 my next system was a 4 channel Hitec system but I cannot remember what year that was some time in the late 70's now they were vintage.

Some folks do adapt that age of radio system and still fly them!! Heck, some folks fly Free Flight models, no radio.

Our local club is a SAM club, they require everyone to have some vintage models and fly them. They are actually great fun to fly.
