Vintage Comet free flight planes, blast from the past share.

I was given a big lot of old school North Pacific, a division of Comet free flight planes, it's quite a pile. It also has the original display box that was used for the hobby shops to house them in for sale upon. The set are Sleek Streek, Skeeter, Stunt Flyer, and Space Flyer. I sold the complete set on E-bay and have one more listed, I have a pile of them still on hand unopened for the rest and am keeping the my own original set, will be scanning them and reproducing them on the laser cutter and 3d printer. The feedback I'm receiving is nothing but impressive, obviously these guys had things dialed in back then. These are early/mid 70's era along the vintage element from my estimate.

The Stunt Flyer is now dialed in.

I got the Sleek Streek mostly dialed in, it's a bit nose heavy since I went with a heavier prop and motor mount but it's getting a tail ring/clip for better securing the horizontal stab. The fin/rudder has a taped hinge trim tab with the position set by a small section of masking tape. The stock stick/fuse section Comet used is very dense, I so wish I could get the same density of stock from here or wouldn't need the tail clip. I'll be removing the tail stab graphics, you can't see anything when it's engraved that small, also going with one light pass for the graphics on the wing rather then two, it was pushing it too much with the 1/32" stock for that area, and will come up with a stamp or stencil for the graphics later on, for now, this will have to do to move onto the packaging and getting it onto the store shelves.

I'm trying out a couple of fuselage revisions for the Stunt Flyer. The ballast will be 3d printed, the tail end of the fuse has been trimmed to handle the 3d printed parts I designed up that fit the Sleek Streek, and in theory the camber on the h-stab should help reduce the amount of ballast needed. It's also going with wing incidence rather then h-stab deflection angle.

I bumped up the Stunt Flyer to 12" wingspan, added a 3d printed slot for inserting a dime for ballast, it's adjustable too. I bumped up the Sleek Streek to 16 1/2" wingspan, am trying out an uncambered h-stab and a flat one, same with the wing. I may end up going back to the wedge format since the prop unpowered takes away the glide ratio.
