Variometer Problem After Upgrading Horus X10S to ACCESS

I recently successfully changed my Horus X10S RF board to the new version which has ACCST and ACCESS, and also updated the firmware. I am using GR6, G-RX6, and G-RX8 receivers. I have updated the firmware on the G-RX6 and G-RX8 receivers with the newest version of ACCST. I am running ACCESS on the GR6 and ACCST on the G-RX6 and G-RX8 receivers. Since upgrading I have run into an issue with the variometers on these receivers. The altitude telemetry works fine on all the receivers. The problem is with the variometer function. When the gliders are on the ground the variometers work fine, but as soon as the gliders are launched the variometer tone goes into a rapidly beeping, high-pitched sound. This is as expected, but after the glider levels out into normal flight, the vario telemetry continues to be a rapidly beeping, high-pitched sound, as if it is "stuck". I can do a reset and then the vario seems to be working normally again, but of course this then also zeros out the altitude which I do not want. I should note that previous to updating my Horus TX, the vario function on the GR6 receiver worked fine, and I have not changed/updated the GR6 firmware. And the vario function also worked fine on the G-RX6 and G-RX8 receivers prior to the TX upgrade. I suspect that the vario problem has something to do with the upgraded TX firmware, but I haven't figured out what it is. I looked at all the vario settings on the TX Telemetry setup and don't see anything there that looks like it would be causing the problem. I have deleted the sensors and re-discovered the sensors, but this does not help. Any ideas or suggestions would be appreciated.

I have updated the firmware on the G-RX6 and G-RX8 receivers with the newest version of ACCST.
I suspect this is the issue. By any chance are these receivers pretty darn old? Many years ago FrSky had to change the vario sensors in their receivers after the older chip was replaced by the manufacturer. I do not recall when this was, but probably about 1 year into the life span of the G-RX receivers. FrSky had to make some changes to the firmware to work with the new chip. I'm guessing you may have the old chip in these receivers. Oddly enough I'm not sure if FrSky has a solution for this. I can reach out and ask the techs at FrSky. I do not see a special version on their site, and it may very well be possible that the "newer" firmwares are able to check what chip is being used and adjust properly, if so, that would make my guess about your issue 100% wrong.

Should I ask for you?

Wayne,

The G-RX6 and G-RX8 receivers are early 2019 vintage. The Archer GR6 receiver is mid 2021 vintage. I have not updated the GR6 firmware and perhaps doing so would get it working. Yes please ask the FrSky techs what they think. I'd like to get the varios working again if I can.

Thanks!
Al

Just another quick note on the GR6 receiver. I initially used it with an X-Lite TX in 2021 and the vario worked fine. But when I use it with my upgraded Horus X10S that is where I run into the problem on the GR6. Same problem as the G-RX6 and G-RX8 running ACCST with the upgraded Horus X10S TX, using ACCST mode.

Wayne,
Any word from FrSky on the variometer firmware?
It occurred to me that I have used the Archer GR6 receiver with my X-Lite S TX (2021 vintage) and the GR6 variometer worked fine with that TX, so the issue must be with the firmware update I made to my Horus X10S after I upgraded it to the new ACCESS module. I have not updated the firmware on the GR6 receiver so it is running the same firmware as when it worked with the X-LiteS TX.
