Using Cura on a Prusa i3 mk3

Aloft et. all,

The ASK 14 requires some CARBON ROD at 1.2mm Dia. Do you have anything like that?

Tom
Sorry, we do not have the 1.2mm size yet. We will be trying to stock that in the future. I used 1mm on the Rise and it worked fine. :)

Wayne,
Good morning and Merry Christmas to you and the Aloft staff.
I purchased the PlanePrint STL files for the Ask14 and the Rise with motor upgrade and am interested in the parts kit you may be able to put together. I sent the STL file for the ASK14 to you as a zipped file at “contact@alofthobbies.com” so you can have a look at it.
Thanks,
Raymond Gaskins

No problem, and we can print the rubber parts for you too, this saves you from buying a spool of TPU, and Rene has given us permission to do this for his customers. :) We are getting back on our feet today after the holiday break so may take us a day or two before we can look at the files. (Lots of emails and shipping to process!)

Thanks!

You mentioned earlier in the thread that you were putting together recommended parts to complete several of the PlanePrints models. I would be interested in purchasing complete sets including the TPU parts, motor, prop, esc, batteries and servos for the Rise and ASK14.
Thanks
Raymond Gaskins

@Jarron - Jarron has been working on these with Rene at Plane Print. The holidays have slowed us down a lot, but think he has some of this squared away and he can shed some light on the subject. There are a few things we are ordering or need to order to help meet Rene's hardware list, like some screws or the 1.2mm rods, but for the basics we have it pretty well covered. I'll let Jarron post up and if nothing else he should be able to link to everything, or we can go active on the grouped pages if they are ready.

Think @RafaelAvila is printing out some of the TPU parts for the ASK right now.

Thanks!

Wayne,

I would like to order the support materials (Carbon rod, tubes, 2mm screws, 5mm magnets, and TPU parts) along with the Motor, ESC, and Servos for the ASK -14. I have LW-PLA for the Tail Feathers.

Here is the setup we used in the Rise:

ESC: https://alofthobbies.com/hobbywing-flyfun-20a-esc-v5.html
Prop: https://alofthobbies.com/aeronaut-cam-8-x4-20x10-cm.html
Spinner,Collet: 32mm spinner, 4mm collet
Battery: https://alofthobbies.com/tattu-3s-850mah-75c-xt30-889551002196.html
Servos: https://alofthobbies.com/corona-ds843mg-servo-48kg-666ozin-018-sec-655g.html

You'll also need a one meter 6x4mm carbon fiber tube: https://alofthobbies.com/carbon-fiber-tubes.html
and four 1mmx1000mm carbon fiber rods: https://alofthobbies.com/carbon-fiber-rods.html

I haven't come up with a setup for the ASK14 yet, I'll have to let you know when I do.

@Raymond Gaskins and @Hoqiam I have done printing the Tpu parts using the material and the settings as recommended,
it's come out really good, but the wheel I feel it's too hard.
I have some soft material called ninjaflex it's supposed to be more flexible A85 I can try it out but I only have in orange if that's OK. I can proceed with?

Looks great to me; I will plan to order the other parts from Aloft this weekend when I get a break and will commit to the TPU parts or ninjaflex whichever you think is best. Let me know the price (total) of these parts and I will remit payment by Zelle.
Thanks
Raymond

Wayne,

is my order for the ASK 14 parts and materials outlined in this thread OK, or do I need to call it in?
By the way, I m very interested in the single stick and would like the opportunity
to be one of the test people.

Tom,

If you want to place an order, just add the items to your cart, then email us about the rubbery parts. I think we are going to give you guys the rubbery parts for free if you can give us some feedback on what version of tires you like the best. The black tires are pretty stiff, the red and orange ones are much softer. Eventually we will buy the correct softness of what you guys like so we can make them in black. I suspect you will like the softer tires better. (I think you can magic marker the colored ones to make them black..)

Rafael is out of the office as he had a Covid encounter. Should be back very soon, probably tomorrow.

Hi Wayne,
Although I like a good looking plane, function will be my number one priority for this first printed plane build, so red or orange wheels really won’t matter this time around. I placed my order for the recommended parts and received notification that they are on the way.
As previously mentioned, I ordered a Prusa Mk 3 which is at least a month from delivery. So to get my feet wet, I bought a Anycubic Chiron from Amazon and assembled it over the weekend and downloaded some stl files from thingaverse as well as the latest version of Cura and have sliced the stl files and printed about 10 test prints. I am very pleased with the quality of the test prints and think I will start printing the files for the ASK-14 this weekend. I am a newbie to 3D printing but getting pumped up about the possibilities.
Thanks for the inspiration and help.
Raymond

Hey Rafael,

Which items have you made? I am ready to order.
I presently have the ASK-14 Fuselage, Vertical Tail, and Landing Gear parts completed.
The fuse is in Red PLA, It really looks more Orange than Red.
Will you be making the CLEAR Canopy also?

Tom

We have the rubber parts only. Think we will be giving these items to you 2 for free. We would like your feedback on any alterations that might be needed on them for your planes.
