I would like to find a way to use a switch to indicate when my gear is down. I have searched online but can not find any info on a converter to allow the Rx to read a switch position.
Is this something that ETHOS can do via S or F bus with the proper converter?
there are telemetry receivers which have analog inputs.
A simple 4k7 Ohm resistor to +Vcc ( 3.3V) and the switch grounding the signal will do the trick for you.
The rest is now programming the transmitter to use the Analog Value as you need.
If using an analog input, you could get three switches detected using this:
This a 3-bit digital to analog encoder (I used three of these on the 9Xtreme upgrade board) and works well. Each of the three switches may detected as open or closed.
Depending on the position of the three switches, the analog value takes one of 8 values. These convert to a 3-bit value (0-7) where the '4' bit indicates SW1 position, the '2' bit indicates SW2 position and the '1' bit indicates SW3 position.
Thank you, I was thinking of running the switches in series, all 3 have to close to provide a gear safe call out. My main concern is that I have advanced notice at altitude rather than having to rely on visual only, if the gear doesn't come down on the first try I can stay high while attempting to get it down.

If you use one of the receivers with a Barometer you could automatically have the gear go and down based on a safe altitude using a Logical switch as well as a special function to announce the gear is up or down.
The reason I am looking for a way to indicate gear position is I have already had the gear fail to extend on one side. Only caught it visually at the last second and aborted the landing, two
attempts later it finally came down.
I do like your idea, it has a certain cool factor but is likely beyond my programing ability, plus I have no Rx with barometer.
