I tried an OTA update the the txis waiting for rx or some such thing. I've read that a cable update should work. But what cable and where are the ports on the tx?
When doing an OTA update, you need to power on the RX after you launch the update from the TX. To do the cable update, I use a sensor cable to connect the RX to the s-port on top of the TX.
Depending on which radio you are using to cable update a receive the Smart Port could be on the back or on the X20S transmitter has the smart Port on the top behind the cover, this is a standard servo connector. The Archer SR10 Plus has a 4 pin white connector on one end. Flashing is performed to the S.Port pin and ground. Firmware and manual for this receiver can be found here. https://www.frsky-rc.com/archer-plus-sr10/

When you got the receiver there was an additional cable with a white 4-pin plug (that fits to the receiver) and at the other end there's a BEC plug (with S.port, Gnd and Plus) to attach to the Transmitter.
Concerning your question about where to plug into the Transmitter you have to write what Transmitter you are taking about.
Also it is advisable to write what OS-system we are takling about with the version number.
And also important is the Firmware version of the HF-System.
