Updating Firmware on X10s

I have been trying to update the firmware on my X10s radio. I have downloaded version 1.3.07 and extracted the files.

However, the bin file X10_NEU_1307_0314_frtx.bin tells me it cannot be opened.

What am I missing ?

I am currently running version 1.2.05

I have successfully updated the firmware on my X10s to 1.3.07 and it's working fine except for one thing.

The voice files I have been using for years in the Special Function menu are now all garbled and difficult to understand. I tried deleting these files and then re-installing them but got the same result, garbled and very hard to hear.

Any ideas ?

Eject the SD card, check that the contacts are clean, then reinstall. That usually does the trick.

I managed to install the new firmware but now I have an even larger issue. I received a brand new RX8R receiver today and spent an hour trying to bind it with no success. So for reference I decided to see if I could still run the same receivers on 3 other airplanes. NOTHING works now.

Very confused and frustrated as to what I can do to correct this

Well, what new firmware did you install? If you have updated FrOs to a V2 ACCST, then you will need to update the firmware on your receivers. V2 and above fixes a rather nasty bug in ACCST v1. It is a good idea to update it.

With FrOs when you update the firmware it can also update the RF firmware, so that would be my guess as to what has happened.

I have successfully update the firmware on my X10S but now I cannot update all of my XM+ receivers.

I downloaded the XM+_ACCST_2.1.0_FCC.frk file to my X10S

I connected the XM+ to the X10S via the servo connector in the back of the radio.

I select the file and choose "update"

The red light on the XM+ stays solid and I get a FAIL message.

Very frustrating indeed.

I think you have not selected the correct receiver flashing menu. As there is no prompt called update. Have you unziped the XM+ firmware before storing it on the SD card.
1. Press sys key
2. One press of the pgup/dn button.
3. select the folder where you have stored the XM+ firmware.
4. click on the XM+ folder until you see the XM+_ACCST_2.10_fcc.frk file

The menu has a number of choices. You want the Flash S.Port device.

If successful and you have plugged the servo cable into the receive S.Port holes the correct way around the receiver Led will come on and a flashing progress bar will indicated flashing is underway.

Just realized you are running FRos so the above may not be accurate.
