Universal ACCST Firmware (UNI)

mysterios,

I can only test with an X8r, here it works perfectly.

I have inserted debug code.
If the error still exists, please use developer mode with suite, wait for lines in terminal window with “1665: Wakeup: ... “ and take a screenshot for me

Thank you, the latest beta 3 file now works without error.
I was unsure how/ whether to use the developer mode given it now works however I connected the radio in bootloader mode and ran the debug in Ethos suite and nothing showed (I presume due to no error)

fine,
just got feedback that the reset functionality (page 2) is still buggy, should appear with my test x8r too.
i'll try to fix this this week

Hello,

I flashed my X8R to the UNI firmware v80 the day before yesterday (unfortunately I didn't know that there is a v83 since I downloaded it on the Engel MT website). I previously had the latest official firmware from FrSky on it. After entering the activation code yesterday, everything worked perfectly. In particular, the telemetry of my ESC Neuron 60s came up.

I honestly don't know what happened next. I configured a few things in the radio (via LUA scripts) and then accidentally accessed the activate LUA script again (and entered the activation code again to be on the safe side). I don't know if that was the cause, but a few hours later I noticed that the telemetry (except the default ones of the receiver) was no longer working. It could no longer find any other sensors.

Then I backed up the radio and set everything up completely fresh without a backup (SD card + firmware) => same problem: no telemetry except the default.

So I wanted to go back to the FrSky firmware on the receiver (for testing purposes). But I can no longer flash the receiver. This message appeared immediately:
“Firmware update error. Device not responding” I've never had this issue before and I've done it a few times. I use a Radiomaster TX16S radio with EdgeTX 2.10.5. I always flash via the external bay / module of the radio. Update to v83 fails immediately, too.

Apart from that (flashing & telemetry), receiver works fine and V7-Setup Scripts etc. work.

What am I doing wrong? Have I bricked it?

I am very grateful for any help. Thanks :)

From V80 onwards, UNI supports FBUS as well as SPort. It is possible doing the activation again, or some other operation, has changed the setting from SPort to FBUS. Check using the setup script.
I don't use EdgeTx, only erskyTx. Possibly Edge has a timing problem when flashing. If you try flashing without the Rx plugged in, do you get a message such as "Finding Device" for a while?
If so, you could try connecting only ground an SPort to the Rx, and use a separate power supply to the Rx. Start the flashing, then when at "Finding Device", turn the power to the Rx on.

Mike

Thanks Mike, FBUS was set to off. Also the timing was never an issue before. The receiver blinks red as it should. Then a screen pops up "reset device" (as always), the receiver blinks green once (for some milliseconds) and then more or less immediately the "not responding" message is shown. The same happens without the receiver plugged in (of course without the leds flashing).

I meanwhile think that the SPort of my receiver is somehow damaged. I found some info that users had the same issue (however with Radiomaster R168 receivers that seem to be clones of the X8R). That would also explain why it worked perfectly in the beginning and then suddenly the telemetry and flashing issue appeared (without having knowingly changed anything).

Hello,
does the current S8R v83 uni-firmware also support airplanes with V-tail?
If not, is it planned to add this function in the future?
Thanks a lot for the great work!

Delta and V-tail should be fully supported, just set the mode using the normal configuration script.
I don't have any aircraft that use those modes so please double check the stab. and auto-level response are correct.

Hello Mike,
thanks for your answer. I have set the Frsky setup script to V-tail. However, the elevator and rudder are controlled separately and not mixed.
Rolf

The script simply lets the receiver know that gyro responses need to mix the elevator and rudder channels for a V-tail (or delta wing).
The actual mixing for a V-tail or delta wing needs to be setup in the transmitter. I have flight tested the delta setup with an S6R and it works great.

I clearly missed that the FrSky firmware does the delta and v-tail mixing from the Tx controls as well as the mixing for the gyro correction.
I could change UNI so it matches the FrSky firmware operation.
Since as long as you do the mixing in the Tx it works, I think I'll leave it as it is. It does mean that you may configure things like aileron differential for a delta wing that is not as easy if the delta mix is in the Rx.

Mike

Just use the channel mapping feature to output channels 1 and 5 on two other outputs as well.

Mike

I assumed that as you mentioned "matched servos" no "trimming" would be needed.
If I add the option of two more aileron channels controlled by the stab, it seems to me any "trimming" would need to be added in the receiver if the servo response is to be the same for both control inputs and stab inputs, a bit like adding a curve on the Tx but putting this in the Rx.

Mike

Hello and Seasons Greetings! I just installed Uni v.83 on my RX8R Pro. Neat stuff.

Should I reset my RF fine tuning to zero now that I have auto-tune enabled? It was set at 15 on the factory firmware.

Does the offset fight the auto-tune or no worries? TX16S on latest ETX and MM firmware if that makes a difference.

Thanks!
Jim

Leave it at 15 as this is the correction needed by the MPM. The auto-tune in UNI will just match the Tx, no "fighting".

Mike

How do I tell the radio that my S8R is installed on it's side? I've calibrated the rx several times and I can't see where to do this.
