Unifirmware V83 vs v84 Lost Pkts Total?

Hi.
I flashed X8R with Unifirmware V84 and I notice that Lost Pkts Total increses almost every refresh (when I run statistics script).
I know that The “Lost Pkts Total” may be high if the Rx is powered on when very close to the Tx. This is because
the Rx has to start looking for a weak signal so may be swamped initially until it detects how close the Tx is.
But I tested other X8R with V83 from same position regarding receiver and transmitter (3m distance) and it does not behave as with V84.
For example with V83 in one minute long testing I had 3 lost packets and with V84 I had 60.
Just courious does it mean something?

Thanks

Best regards

Edin

There should be no difference. I just tested a X8R with V84 and I'm getting zero lost packets over 30 seconds (Tx is X9LiteS in ACCST D16 mode).
Does V83 perform better on the same X8R?

Hi Mike
I tested with two X8R receivers and behaviour with V83 and 84 is pretty muct the same. The link below is the X8R Number 1 with both versions.

And here is the link of X8R Number 2 with both:

Both receivers had the similar VFR (100) and RSSI (86-88).
But with Receiver #1 I had much more Lost Pkts Total when comparing with Receiver #2.
Both tested in same environment, same distance from Tx.
Why is difference so big between X8R #1 and X8R #2?

Thanks

No idea! However, you might look at page 3 of the statistics screen and see if the problem is related to one particular hopping channel (you will need to run the test for some time).
I know that the UNI running D16 on a D8 receiver sometimes has one or two poor hopping channels.

Hi Mike.
I checked page 3.
So the receiver#1 with more lost packets has page 3 like this:
RX1_3.webp

And statistics page looks like this:
RX1_2.webp

One more question. Yesterday when I was testing Statistics screen had active Valid Ant2 Pkts and I didn't change active antenna on TX. Allways is External (When you check youtube videos I posted yesterday). And today is Ant1.

Receiver#2 (with better statistics)

RX2_2.webp

RX2_1.webp

So only difference between Rx#1 and Rx#2 is UID 156 which on Rx#1 varies between 79 and 84 and on Rx#2 between 99 and 100.
UID 67 is on both receivers 4.
Is this the reason on such a difference betwen lost packets between Rx#1 and Rx#2?

Thanks

Edin

The UID entry is the ID from the Tx, the rest are the hopping channels.
Clearly your testing shows that channel 156 is struggling a bit. Where are you testing? You may have some interference on that channel and one receiver is slightly less good at handling that.
It may also be that your Tx has poor transmission on channel 156.
I would not be concerned at using the Rx with channel 156 showing 84, all the other channels are at 100.
I would just do a normal range check, monitoring VFR if possible. I use erskyTx firmware on my Tx and this shows VFR when in range check mode. If VFR is not visible in range check mode, just turn logging on and look at the log file after doing the range check.
As long as VFR stays above 90 during range check all is OK. FrSky range check has a range of about 1/30 of full power. If you get a range of 50 yards in range check mode, then you should get over 1500 yards at full power (nearly 1 mile!). I get at least 50 yards with the 'plane only 1 foot above the ground, raising the 'plane improves the range significantly.

When the Rx is powered up it searches for a signal and keeps swapping between the antennae until it finds the signal. As long as it keeps receiving OK on the the selected antenna, it doesn't swap again. From memory it needs to miss 8 consecutive packets before it switches.

Hi guys,
in the name of science I tested RX8RPRO and S8R under same conditions as X8R with V84. In the apartment few meters from receiver.
RX8RPRO has worse results than X8R. And S8R is perfect.
So I'm not sure about interference.
Pictures below
RX8RPRO:

Again ch#156 and now #26 are bad.
S8R:

S8R.webp

All 100%
