Tracer 2 Meter is here!!

The TRACER is a really good value. It flies and looks great and fills a sweet spot in the fleet! I am surprised that there are still some in stock. We need to get the word out :)

The wing covers and brass ballast that Aloft sells are a nice bonus.

Jake - I shared one of your videos on RC Groups. You need to set up your videos so people can find them on YouTube. :)
Cool! Share away!

I'll get on youtube and change the settings

Side note: My tracer is laying in the bushes(poison oak) on the backside somewhere! I did laps for at least 4 hours a few days ago when the South came in and my eyes kinda got weird on me by the end and down I went. Im gonna head up tomorrow or the next day to find it. It made a loud cracking noise when I lost sight so.....

should be cool this time a year!

Yeah, the joys of our slopes around here.. Fun itchy stuff everywhere.

One of our local pilots is super sensitive to the stuff. You should see him bundle up before he goes hunting.

Boy I need a nap after watching that little brush buster.

It's ALIVE!!! It has a couple little tiny cracks on the leading edge but looks pretty good. I'm beat though! It might not look like much in the pic but it wore me out.

It got rained on while in the poison oak forest over the last week and the servos and receiver got wet. I haven't tested em yet but my gut feeling says rip everything out and buy new.
I feel like even if things work they might be prone to early or sudden failure. What is the general consensus on this?

I would not apply any power to the units! remove them and wipe they dry with a cloth towel.
Then put them in a PLA dehumidify box for couple of days.
should do the trick.

It’s been a few years since posting on alofts forums I have been reluctant because of a certain individual, he has either been banished or found better use of his time. Now that I got that out of the way this Tracer sure seems to be a sweet little ship and I can’t wait to get it up in the air. The fit is great and seems pretty stiff all around. I tried keeping it as clean as possible. IDS for the wings, zepsus power switch, G10 fuse support plate. X10s for the flaps and X08 for the ailerons and elevator. That flaps were a pain in the butt, I should have used X10 minis or just stuck with X08’s all around. I originally made 3 different molded nose weights out of lead and every time I was short on space by just a little. I ended up buying a couple pounds of tungsten #9 shot at $50 a pound (most expensive nose weight I have ever bought) mixed it with some epoxy and problem solved.

Yes things are much more pleasant here now aren't they? I am thoroughly enjoying the new vibe, without "that guy" trying to be the smartest in the room all the time.

Nice clean build! Tungsten is a savior if you need space. I built a MoM racer years back and used Anviloy 1150, cheaper than Tungsten and as effective. Good luck with the maiden if you haven't flown it already.

Cheers

Outstanding build! Wait till you fly her, nothing but good reports.

One weakness on the supplied parts is in the ball links for the v-tail. We are hoping better units can be supplied in the near future as they are not the best quality. Worse comes to worse, MP Jet versions can be swapped.

I never use any of the supplied hardware from TJRIC. I sweated off the balls on the supplied elevator arms and soldered on new ball links from DU-Bro. Did a little filling on the plastic to make more room. Its more than strong enough for the frontside flying I will be doing with it. Hope to maiden this weekend.

Nice, clean build. How did you install the tail units without cutting into the fuse?

I don't ever plan on shipping or selling the glider so the tails are glued into place from the inside at the main joining carbon rods with CA. I epoxied the v-tail hardware in place after the tails were permanently fixed. I have more than enough travel up and down without any rubbing on the fuse.

Maiden the Tracer in 10-15mph wind today. Required no trimming in the air. Elevator was a tad sensitive with the dual rates I preset into my transmitter, easy fix. On the landing I floated it straight down from about 15’, probably one of the best landing I have ever had on a maiden. The glider was ripping even in the light winds, looking forward to more wind and some ballast. Got to fly its little brother Magnus as well, left the big brother Alpha 2.8 at home.

Tracer is a product developed by Richard and me together, without anyone else's involvement. The name of screamer was also provided by Richard. Richard provided the original drawings, which I believe is a very modern design.
I purchased the ball links for the V-tail from the market. I have tried many options, but in the end, I only found the one with the right size. I have already provided feedback to my supplier regarding this issue. Let the supplier make it tighter.
I am currently working on resolving the paint issue with the product. I had to purchase a large dehumidifier.
For production, the requirements are very strict. Warmth is needed in winter, and dehumidification is needed in summer.
Some factories have large workshops, but when winter comes, the air becomes cold and the epoxy resin becomes very viscous, making it unsuitable for production
TJIRC has relocated to a new industrial park. I spent a lot of money building many separate workshops. My production workshop has already met all the requirements, which is why I am able to produce in large quantities, whether it is winter or summer.
Thank you to Wayne and all the buyers for providing various suggestions. TJIRC has always been on the right path. The latest 3.3 meter avanti is a great example, it is definitely an excellent glider, whether it is paint quality or product quality.
