I have been waiting for this one for a while now. What do you get when you take a Magnus and mate it with an Alpha 3? You get a cute little Tracer!

Lets take a look:

Inverted nose with slip off cone, 2.4 friendly.

I could not be happier with the finished planes.

I had hoped to bring a sample to the Sunset Event, but they didn't arrive until we were at the event. I suspect these are going to sell pretty fast. Price will be under $600 in carbon! :D

Hopefully get them up on the site soon. My main data entry / photographer has been out sick for a month.. :(

Yep, TJI. Yep, known as the Screamer in the UK. Don't love that name. The idea for this one comes from Rich over at T9, he wanted a modern F3F but with a 2 meter span. They did a great job with the proportions and details. I can see why Rich is so happy with the final results.

TJI has always offered a solid airframe, but the paint was not the best. Happy to report they have been chipping away at this and these are the best looking models they have produced. Now we have a solid airframe and good cosmetics too. :)

Bravo Wayne! Great looking plane! If it will come in a x-tail, I will buy one for sure. As you know, I am not a V-tail fan, but it is a awesome looking glider and I do want one, even a T-tail would be fine. Let me know if there is any workings into a X or T tail? I hope?

That squarish tail boom should work almost as well as TUD's triangle boom, used on a real F3F racer, when dealing with landing loads. I suspect it will perform a lot better than the round boom* found on other models.

* Landing loads as apposed to torsional loads.

Marketing question, what differentiates this Tracer from the tried and true Erwin ? How do the airfoils choices perform between these models? What was the driver defining an F3F type flier? Does the Tracer grove better in a pylon turn.

Or put another way, why would I choose one over the other? They look to be aimed at close to the same market with equal price point ($150 difference maybe not).

I can always ask. I know they are working on an electric fuselage for it right now.

I think we should give the V tail some time on the market before investing in another version. The v-tail does make sense in their line up at this size.

Konrad I sell a number of planes that seem to overlap one another. While the question is valid, I have no answers for you at this time. One is made in China and costs less and is a more modern design. The other is built in Europe and while a rather old design has a great reputation and strong following. I think there is room for both on our shelves. I personally have not flown either, so impossible for me to comment much further.)

When I fly I don't care for the C.O.O. I wonder what the European vendor saw as a need for the 2m F3F type model that wasn't addressed with the current offerings.

Again I'm not trying to say one is better than the other. Just looking for what strength or weaknesses they might have compared to each other.

No need to wonder, Wayne’s already explained why it exists in post#1. TJIRC can churn them out in quantity, as well as now improved quality, and he can offer them at a price that’s not bad at all compared to the very few 2m moulded sport slope models out there that he’s willing to stock. The CCM Toy is way more money (but the sheer quality is awesome), which does put it out of reach for many, whilst others simply don’t want to spend that much on a 2m ship.
Again, it is a sport/everyday type of model, not an F3f ‘racer’, and wasn’t spec’d to be in the first place. For instance the wing joiner is just like that in Tji’s Alpha 2m, which of course is basically a (shhh ) Typhoon clone.

So it’s a quality/slash price point? Now we agree that when it comes to quality one gets what one pays for.

I have no issues with that. I just want to know what I give up for a savings of $150.
