To V2 or not V2?

Hello all. I´m a newcomer in the forum, but have been since a few years around FrSky products, first with external modules in 7U and 8U futaba radios and since 2017 with a QX7 transmitter. I had a nearly 2 year hiatus away from the hobby (life happened) so I recently cleaned my models and got hooked back into the hobby.

So, I am realizing about the new ACSST V2 issue, and there is a detail that is confusing me. Are D8 recievers, useless after V2 update? I have 3 D8Rii+ recievers, and I´m not sure If I should update to V2 or not since I really don´t want to buy 3 new recievers just because of this update. I will be needing a fourth Rx soon, so I´m trying to figure out if I should try to find one of the old fashioned recievers, or go to the newer ones with V2 and update my QX7 to V2 as well.... I am a bit afraid that V2 will not allow me to keep using my D8Rii ´s.

Can anyone enlighten me, please? I lost track on the OpenTX releases, and I am a bit lost here.... I don´t want to mess things up and end with three useless recievers.

To expand a bit more.

The D8 receivers will bind in D8 mode, this mode remains unchanged with the V2 firmware fix from FrSky. So you can continue to use your D8 receivers.

The D16 mode is where the change is made, and once ACCST V2 is installed, all receivers that bind using the D16 mode will also need to have a V2 firmware installed on them. There is an exception, we are working on a new universal ACCST firmware that will allow you to keep V1 on your transmitter and be very safe, or you can be on V2. No worries either way, the new firmware can talk to both. We are in beta testing of the new firmware at this time and think we will be able to start selling receivers with it before the end of the year.

Not having any V2 recievers, I guess I'll make the update and any further recivers to come, will update to V2 accordingly....

FrSky have brought out a new protocol called ACCESS. Currently, ACCESS transmitters/modules do not support the D8 protocol. To help users continue to use D8 receivers, I wrote D16 firmware for D8 receivers. This means you should always be able to continue to use your D8 receivers, and my firmware also works with either V1 or V2 automatically, as well as providing some extra features.

Thanks a lot Mike! Will check it out... seems a bit complicated to me, but I'll give it a try... there's always room for new things!
