I'd like to introduce you to a plane we will be offering at Aloft in the near future. As you may know we like to fly as many planes as possible before we offer them at Aloft. Here is a nice photo:
I had a GWS Tiger Moth 400 back in the day and LOVED that plane. Sadly they can't make them anymore. So when this one popped up on my screen I thought I better give it a try, this manufacturer has been around a long time and sometimes their designs are not very good.
They arrived with another of their planes that looked interesting. Their packaging was great and the covered model looked really good. So far very impressed. Onto the build. It included pretty good instructions and went together with no surprises. Very pleased. We used a motor we had in stock and built it in 2 short nights after work while screwing around on with the guys at our weekly build night at the shop. Some photos:

She is a small and light plane. I ended up using a 3S 800 battery and pushed it all the way to the front of the cowling to get close to the CG, will still need a bit of lead.
Dang she looks good:
Being pretty tiny and pretty light, the conditions at the field were horrible. Think we had gusty 15 to 20 miles an hour winds. No point in pulling her out of the car. But as the morning progressed the winds dropped to maybe 10 to 15 and best of all were pretty smooth. Good enough, let's give her a try. I expected this to end badly as another model from the same company had just proven to be unflyable and ended very poorly.
The Tiger Moth would have none of that and simply jumped off the ground and was flying as well as could be expected for the windy conditions. Very pleased. She was a little tail heavy but flew and landed well. Can't wait to fly here in zero wind conditions.
She shows good promise of being a nice slow plane like a good biplane should be. Everyone at the field seems to love the good looks of this plane.
