Design the center panel first, adding as much of the details as you are comfortable with, then you add a new panel from the main page, the software will give you several options for connecting spars and things. Refine that panel and then add your last panels. This is overly simplified, but should give you the idea.

I think I didn't make it very clear what i was trying to do.
The attached image is of the design of a proposed center panel of a thermal glider wing. The center of the panel is attached to the fuselage via screws, with the left and right outer panels attached either end. When I click ok from the design I get two center panels instead of one. Is what I'm trying to do something that cannot be achieved?
We have done exactly what you are talking about, reduce the length to 50%. The software will think of it as two panels, but you will build it as one. You will need to adjust your rib counts and sheeting, but that will do the trick for you.
