ACCESS FIRMWARE: Successfully Flashed to R9M2019_FCC.frk v1.3.0 (Easy enough to do I did it 3x to be sure)
Registration/Bind Procedure per RM9 Manual:
NO INCLUSION OF STATE [REGISTER} IN HORUS MENU
Registration & Automatic binding (Smart Match )
With the FrSky ACCESS protocol, the transmitter/transmitter module can bind receiver without using the "F/S" button.
Follow the step below to finish the Registration & binding procedure:
1. Put the transmitter/transmitter module into [Reg] status.
1.1 For Taranis X9D Plus 2019 as an example, turn on the transmitter, go to the MENU-MODEL SETUP-PAGE 2,choose External
RF-Mode R9M ACCESS, then select [Register].
1.2 For Horus X10 Express as an example, turn on the transmitter, go to the MODEL- EXT MODULE, Turn on the EXTERNAL RF, choose MODE [R9M ACCESS], then select STATE [REGISTER]. REALLY??
2. Connect the battery to the receiver while holding the F/S button on the receiver. The RED LED and GREEN LED on the receiver will
be on, indicating into the [Reg] status. Select [ENTER] on the transmitter, The RED LED and GREEN LED on the receiver will flash,
and the transmitter displays [Registration ok].
3. Turn off the receiver.
4. Move the cursor to select the receiver 1 [Bind].
5. Connect the battery to the receiver, the GREEN LED on the receiver will be on, indicating into the [Bind] status. Select the RX, the
GREEN LED on the receiver will keep lit, the RED LED will flash, and the transmitter displays [Bind successful].
6. The transmitter exit [Bind], the receiver GREEN LED will flash, RED LED will be off, indicating working normally.

How to update R9M MINI/MM-OTA firmware :
By radio (SD card) :
1. Put the firmware under the folder [FIRMWARE] of sd card.
2. Connect receiver S.Port to the S.Port of radio.
3. Power on the radio and find the firmware,select it by press [ENT].
4. Select Flash xxx(receiver name), wait to end.

Compatibility: R9M Lite/ R9M Lite Pro / R9M 2019 with ACCESS firmware per FrSky Web Page
Would not accept FW update through Smart port as indicated in readme file:
Firmware Version: v1.3.3
How to update R9SX firmware :
1. Put the firmware under the folder [FIRMWARE] of sd card.
2. Register and bind the receiver with your radio, keep the receiver under working mode. (d’uh NO CAN DO!)
3. Find the firmware in SD folder, select it by press [ENT].
4. Select Flash receiver OTA, re-cycle the receiver power and wait for flash ends.
5. Re-cycle the receiver power and wait for 3 seconds to have connection with your radio again.
Note: Receiver is still supported with flashing firmware by s.port connection to radio.
Radio indicates Receiver NOT responding.
Binding procedure PER Instructions:
NO INCLUSION OF HORUS. NO INCLUSION OF REG IN External Rl in HORUS ETHOS MENU.
1.1 For Taranis X-Lite Pro and R9M Lite Pro as an example, turn on the transmitter, go to the MENU-MODEL SETUP-PAGE 2, choose External RF-Mode R9MLP ACCESS, then select [Reg].
2. Connect the battery to the receiver while holding the F/S button on the receiver. The RED LED and GREEN LED on the receiver will be on, indicating into the [Reg] status. Select [ENTER] on the transmitter, The RED LED and GREEN LED on the receiver will flash, and the transmitter displays [Registration ok]. 3. Turn off the receiver. 4. Move the cursor to select the receiver 1 [Bind]. 5. Connect the battery to the receiver, the GREEN LED on the receiver will be on, indicating into the [Bind] status. Select the RX, and the transmitter displays [Bind successful]. 6. The transmitter exit [Bind], GREEN LED will flash, RED LED will be off, indicating working normally
At both times when powered up holding the F/S button (that button was NOT located on the R9 MM-OTA instructions. Good thing I’m a Sr. PCB LAyout Engineer by trade so I found it.) both green and red led lights were on apparently indication the receivers were waiting for a registration command I could not perform via that ETHOS Menu.

Look, I understand this may be user error. IOW, MY FAULT, possibly for a multitude of reasons. However after 2 weeks of research, countless YouTube Videos, Blogs, even attempting to watch a Video on FrSky’s website won't allow me to figure this out.
The documentation above tells me HORUS has a “REGISTER” selection somewhere under RF SYSTEM>EXTERNAL MODULE. Where is that??
