Telemetry in older radios

Toni

New User
Hi, I've just joined this forum, so please excuse me if asking in the wrong place or if it's already discussed elsewhere¡

Question is that apart from Frsky new radios, I also have some older ones from JR, Graupner, Multiplex... and as many other members love to still use it.
And also as other members I've added new life to these with the DHT and XHT Frsky modules.

But now I ran out of Telemetry displays, the FLD 02 and the nice DASHBOARD for XJT.

Does anybody know if there's or will be units in stock in Aloft?

Is there another way arounf to show telemetry from XJT/ XHT?
I've seen that useful IMSB App and the BT module BUT as long as I can see this are only for Apple, not Android

ANY comment's welcome

Hey Toni,

FrSky stopped making the FLD02 and the Dashboard years ago. You may still find them on the used market, or maybe the random hobby shop that has one tucked away in a corner shelf. The iMSB is about the only other option I know of. Maybe pick up an old Ipad or Iphone for running the app? No idea. Gets kind of spendy and not a simple solution either.

Years ago there was some discussion of making a simple telemetry reader as an open source type of product, but don't think anything came of it. I think as frSky started to offer more and more low priced radios the need for such a solution just kind of went away.

Anyone have any solutions that will work for Toni?

Here is a horrible idea.. LOL Grab an old x-lite (they are tiny) and stuff that inside the vintage radio and feed a wire from the trainer port from the vintage radios to the x-lite trainer port. Setup the x-lite in trainer mode and there you go. You get the mixing and channel outputs from the vintage radio, and the modern RF and telemetry handling via the x-lite. LOL Did I mention it was a horrible idea?

Wayne, You're a resourceful man indeed.

These ideas are not that bad, I did consider the old iphone too, but no way for me (don't tell anybody but I work for a competitor company :-) )
And the x-lite gives you great functionality, but it won't be easy fit for smaller handy radios like Multiplex Cockpit SX etc

I'll give it more time, and maybe can find how to adapt, or an open source solution... or maybe someone has another approach

Anyway, many thanks for your quick response.
And please consider to open an Aloft Hobies Shop over here in Barcelona. We don't have anything similar here... and such a MASTER support¡¡¡

Don't tempt me!

For a second I thought maybe an Airlink would do the trick, but nope..
